Why did Leon Britton not get picked?

I saw this on talksport and thought I'd bring it here and see what you guys think on this topic.

Is it because he plays for Swansea? Scholes has already retired and Carrick wasn't given a starting role. As we all saw, England needed someone to hold onto the ball. He's about 29 or so and has been the key player for Swansea this season in the way they go about playing passing philisophy, had he been playing for a club in the top 6 would he had gone?

I'm pretty sure if he had been from Spain, Germany, Italy or France he would have been selected. Maybe it's just me.

Because he's not particularly good, Swansea play nothing like England and he'd be overrun in midfield and way out of his depth.

Hodgson seemingly went into the finals with the intention to have ten men behind the ball, and seemed to want a team of grafters. That is the impression I got, obviously, because the is what happened. Maybe he has a more positive plan for the future, but I doubt it.

He's better at keeping and passing the ball than any central midfielders that went to Ukr/Pol. When Arsenal, City, Chelsea and Man Utd went to their stadium they had the majority of the posession and he certainly didn't look out of his depth there.

Yeah I gave the first game against France as a 1 off and thought against the Swedes and Ukraine he'll change and it never happened.

No problem mate just pointing this out as no1 on here has so far. Honestly feel any other nation would have at least recognised his talent and selected him for the squad.

And Parker/Gerrard isn't boring, Britton would sit just in front of the centre backs and dictate the play well against the Swedes and Ukraine. Gerrard nor Parker are capable of that. He would have got the job done and retained the ball if he was starting.

How is it exactly boring to retain the ball and distribute it to the technical players in Young, Welbeck and Rooney? I'm not saying he should be passing the ball around the back because only A.Cole and G.Johnson are comfortable on the ball in the back 4.

What the fuck is this supposed to mean? Of course he wouldn't be selected, he wouldn't be English in that case. If he was Spanish or any of those nationalities, he would probably be a better player anyways. So I don't see the point of that statement.
