And what do you have against Barca, Apple, Community, and Danny Glover?

They could make a killing by moving their production to the US and employing American workers at a time when our economy is on the ropes. Instead, they turn a blind eye to the slave labor-esque conditions in their Chinese factories, so that they can maximize their profits. That's my personal problem with them.

Not to mention it is ridiculous that one cannot run Flash on an Apple product.

Killing in what? Because it isn't profits.

And I agree, some of their practices are not good. To be honest, I don't know why Che included Apple in that list. I don't defend or talk about Apple that much. I just think some people hate on Apple because they think their products are not that good and that anyone who has an Apple product is just brainwashed by their marketing. If anything, I'm a Google fanboy. Laughing

Yes, it would be in profits. They would still rake in the cash if they were to produce their products in the States, but from a purely capitalistic point of view, it makes more sense for them to continue their deplorable labor practices abroad in order to make an even bigger profit.

And I agree, a large selection of their products are indeed good and reliable.

Well you just said yourself that their profits wouldn't be as high if they moved to the USA. After all, it's a corporation. I don't really blame them for looking to make more profit. This country encourages this extremist capitalistic view. Even Google has been accused of such immoral practices despite how they make themselves out to be this moral compass.

Weren't Google under fire recently because the Google cars that drive around were wirelessly stealing people information and keeping it in their database?

I know. I'm not disputing any of that, it just doesn't sit well with me is all.

    @ Glen

I'm not sure about the exact estimates, but I assume it would be quite a lot. However, it would definitely be less than what they employ overseas, considering they'd actually have to pay healthcare costs, higher wages, and other expenses here in the States.

I just read a good article on the matter: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/apple-wants-us-manufacturing-but-it-aint-that-easy/78571

Like I said, if the government and culture here would just encourage homemade manufacturing by changing the tax code, companies like Apple would be more willing to move production back to the USA. This problem has been going on since the 90s. I blame the government, not the corporations.

Morally, I am incredibly conservative. Fiscally, I change from time to time, as I believe that neither viewpoint is entirely correct, but I am generally conservative.

    @ Ahly

That's certainly part of the equation. The government needs to do more to encourage responsible entrepreneurship in this country.

As for the Apple issue, yeah, there are many more factors involved than what I touched on. But on the whole, Apple wouldn't be able to get away with the stuff they pull at FoxConn, for instance. And they sure as heck wouldn't make a gross margin of 70%+ off of each iPhone as they are currently doing.

Don't take this as gospel. But I'm pretty sure like everything else in the world it's a supply and demand thing.

Lets say that for a $1 you can get 100 peanuts. People love peanuts but they're easy to grow and prepare so are relatively inexpensive.

Now people also like Pistachios but it's more difficult to grow and produce, so for a $1 you only get 30 pistachios, because there is less to go around.

Same reasons why pot is relatively inexpensive and cocaine is very expensive.

    ____________

Personally, I'm pretty conservative, politically I'm very liberal. Mostly because to be conservative is synonymous with being a bigot, racist and sexist.

    Even McCain's seed thinks that.

When it comes to social issues, I'm conservative. Probably more than Republicans. It's tied to my religion I guess. As for economic issues, I'm more in line with Democrats. But I don't associate with either party because as you can see not all their views agree with my mine and are in fact opposite of my views.

To keep it simplistic: Democrats believe in regulations and bigger government when it comes to economic issues. When it comes to social issues, they are liberal. Republicans are big on having a small federal government, especially when it comes to economic issues. They believe in trickle-down economics, less taxes, etc. For social issues, they are conservative and usually religious.
