Re: Game of Thrones Thread
Agreed. Probably to put a face to the situation that is going on with them over there. Jokes on them..we don't care about Tubby either.
And I was talking about the bald dude with no sack talking to the old lady. As well as the chick who plans on marrying the blonde little bitch boy. When she's talking to him and/or the red headed Stark girl.
(No names on purpose YOLO)

Well it's less about Sam and really more what's happening to the NW isnt it? Same is just a conduit to see what's happening to them

Re: Game of Thrones Thread
I know that. But when Sam was first introduced, I thought, "oh, that's nice, they're reaching out to the fat community with this character. He can be their champion, but not to worry, he'll die within 6 episodes for sure and we'll forget about him."dena wrote:Moriarty wrote:I don't even know why he's in this story, pitiful character.

20 or so episodes & 2 books later, he's still the same coward, but even worse, he's still alive.

About that-you know how each chapter is from a different perspective? I've always been suspicious whenever Tyrion/Sam kill someone in battle, I always feel that they are being a bit complimentary to themselves.

Haha yeah.
This episode was pretty great also. Man...they're killing it so far. Well done.
Dwarf on Sansa action ftw.

Faint hopes for the Night Watchmen storyline right now. Old Bear gets got, we leave the civil war scene on a knife-edge and what do we get next? SAM SINGING

Been reading the books, recommend it to anyone who feels like it. There's a lot of good stuff they brush over in the series.

.........
Ned was painful. This is just provocative. Is anyone going to take over that kingship now or is that just wiped out...just in one stupid seen-it-all-before moment? Hard to watch without a contender I actually like.

Re: Game of Thrones Thread
I just want to kill something right now. Dark fantasy be damned. Not a twist I can get behind. Game-changing sure, but there's too many bad/amoral people around now.
- Spoiler:
- At least Eddard had a son capable of inflicting revenge. Here what do we have? The Uncle? Brutus? Probably both dead. No witnesses. Now the only picture of nobility is Jon Snow and he'll have his own problems for the rest of the show. Another few despicable creatures to fill screen time and last at least a few more seasons. Daenaryss taking the throne will do nothing. Foreshadowing of Arya not actually getting there was pretty obvious.

Re: Game of Thrones Thread
- Spoiler:
- This comes off a bit as being unconventional for the sake of it. A lot of the underlying tension that had made these last three seasons so great has just been entirely eliminated. The Lannisters have basically won the war now and I guess we're just supposed to wait for Daenerys to get to Westeros, which may take fucking ages.

Re: Game of Thrones Thread
- Spoiler:
- I normally rather like evil badass guys on tv, but in this case when Boromir himself enters the playing field...I could only really cheer for one faction. After Starks, maybe Highgarden. What I dislike is now the new enemies comprise of an old fart who's going die soon anyway, and a rather boring poor man's Stannis who is incompetent on the battle-field. There's much to hate, but not much to hold interest. Needed more Tywin in that scene, just for whatever reason. This is Robb getting humiliated and discarded by people of not much note, it's a massive disservice to any fan who likes the family. I just can't understand the thinking process here.

- Thinking about it, treachery seems the only plot-moving device in the show. Should there be a limit to this?

I'm not sure if this is a book spoiler, but you have to remember that all this fighting over the crown is just a distraction.
- Spoiler:
- It's about the white walkers, and how everyone reacts to them

That's not a book spoiler, I've always kept in mind that there are bigger things at play. But still, the war of five kings is what has fueled the narrative up until this point and the ending of the last episode has just obliterated my main point of interest.
