Not sure about Richards. Hasn't started City's last few games, has came on in most of them though, so I doubt he's injured. One day we'll have a manager who rates him.

Walker out.

Apparently Roy just doesn't want to take Rio. Not a huge miss at all tbh.

People are actually surprised that Hodgson could be omitting the good players?

In all honesty, Rio doesn't deserve to be in the squad.
Also, I hope that Roy starts with Richards ahead of Glen.

Yeah being one of the best defenders in the league this season definitely doesn't deserve a call up.George wrote:Walker is out.

Hasn't he been injured for most of the season.
Well, that's what I thought.

He's played pretty much constantly since the start of the season. Certainly since Vidic got injured.George wrote:Theo Filippo wrote:Yeah being one of the best defenders in the league this season definitely doesn't deserve a call up.

No, your very right.
Turns out that he has made 30 Premier League appearances this season, the most times he has featured in a campaign since 2007-08.
Joe Cole should get into the squad. He still has it.
The forgotten man.

Kuled wrote:Carroll over Welbeck
I don't think Welbeck is ready, or at least ready enough.
Carroll would be our target man, aerial threat player. No point picking 3 or 4 similar players, Carroll is a tactical option and he can change a game.
-----------
Cam, I picked Graham because he has been playing in a 4-3-3 formation all season and has scored lots of goals, especially for a team like Swansea.
He can hold up the ball well, has good pace and is a goal poacher. Personally believe that he has more to his game than Holt, I don't think Welbeck can hold the ball up.....so I'd go with him.
-----------
No Parker, no Ferdinand, no Walker, no Richards, no Rooney for first 2 games, no Wilshere.......do we have any hope?
We have lost too many crucial players here.....even if a team like Spain had this many injuries they would not be the same team.

I wouldn't even say Ferdinand has been one the best defenders in the league, everyone has sucked tbh and he has looked better than he actually is

Re: Euro 2012 Squads
Welbeck's been possibly one of our best players this season, and he's not "ready enough"?
@Matt_Lawton_DM: Euro 2012 squad: Ferdinand out, Walker out (inj), Richards out, Crouch out, Carroll in, Malaga trip off

Rio might as well retire if he's snubbed this time..
Richards out.

Re: Euro 2012 Squads
Disgraceful conduct from Hodgson, giving Walker an excuse to tell the media. It's obvious that he simply is not good enough, and has been outclassed by Richards and, in particular, Glen all season long.

Just noticed Glen's sig has Terry falling on his arse. Best bit about his team conceding.

Re: Euro 2012 Squads
I'll probably make my mind up when I see the full squad.
The way it's going I'll end up sort of looking toward to just how bad we end up doing.

That'll be good. Sacking the manager less than a month into the job before he's pretty much done anything.

He should never have been appointed, he does not have the pedigree.

We'll see RR, he's hardly going to be sacked though. I think, on a 4 year contract, he'll keep his job even if we have a disastarous campaign, which judging by what's been "leaked", we may well be set for.

Ferdinand out and Carroll in: Hodgson names first squad
Roy Hodgson is expected to make a number of changes for his first England squad today, with Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand the biggest casualty. The 33-year-old's club manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has expressed doubts over Ferdinand's ability to play tournament football, advice that Hodgson has listened to. The manager also felt he could not select both Ferdinand and John Terry, who faces a July court case for allegedly racially abusing Ferdinand's brother, Anton.
Liverpool forward Andy Carroll is included in the 23-man squad for next month's European Championship, with Stoke's Peter Crouch missing out. Tottenham's Kyle Walker is out through injury, while fellow right-back Micah Richards has not been included either. A number of players, including Everton defender Phil Jagielka, have been put on standby, and will train with the squad next week and travel to Oslo for a friendly in Norway.
Hodgson has also cancelled England's planned training camp in Malaga next week in favour of allowing his players to spend more time with their families before the tournament. MORE

Who will be the substitute right-back (assuming that Glen Johnson will be first choice)?
