What's wrong with them debating? It wasn't even getting out of hand. This forum needs more discussion, people having a debate, being encouraged to talk about other things is better than the usual threads you get on here

Re: Locking threads prematurely
I locked it because the OP could be inferred by people as quite offensive. If Chris wants to redo his OP then he's free to do so.

Re: Locking threads prematurely
We've had 7 zillion threads on religion and not a single one of them has gone any differently or better than the one that came before it.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

This forum would be a lot more entertaining and fun to read through if threads weren't locked.

Don't Afhgan Talibans dig holes in football pitches, stone women to death inside them, then cover them back up. All of that for half time entertainment.

Nobody has said that, not singling out anybody. All I'm saying is that people can learn a few things from having a debate, a lot better than the usual threads in General Discussion.

Re: Locking threads prematurely
I think these threads should be allowed to take their course.
Locking them doesn't solve the problem. Everyone involved is still on the forum and will not let the topic go....they will just wait until the next possible moment to carry on the discussion.
If anything, locking the thread will simply make it drag on for longer and have people repeating themselves.
Sure, religion is quite a well discussed topic, maybe too much, but it's not always the same people..... the fact that Chris didn't know Ahly is Muslim kind of sums that up. Just because you personally have seen the topic and feel that you have learnt from it and said all that needs to be said, that doesn't mean it others should have to stop too
