It's sad, but I always get shivers down my spine from it.
Gimli is hilarious.

Beat Legolas during their death-match at Helm's Deep. Think it was 43 to 42.

One of my favourite bits was when Legolas took down that massive Elephant thing and Gimli said "that still only counts as one!" or something like that.

Even though during the actual scenes, Legolas takes out about 10 every 5 seconds and Gimli takes 20 seconds to kill a basic Uruk HaiEternal Witcher wrote:Glen Damon wrote:He's the perfect foil for the metaphorically verbose and somewhat smug Legolas.

What counts is the book. Gimli won. His fighting skills were woefully underplayed on the screen.
Not sure who won during Pelennor Fields though.

I think Legolas must have won, given that Gimli was trapped under a number of Orcs and Wargs for a few hours.Eternal Witcher wrote:Glen Damon wrote:Even though during the actual scenes, Legolas takes out about 10 every 5 seconds and Gimli takes 20 seconds to kill a basic Uruk Hai

Maybe the upcoming Hobbit films will show more of the melee combat mastery of the Dwarves.
Though I am most looking forward to the Man-Bear. Beorn I think his name.

Thats what pisses me off about Gimli in the films. They make him out to be are retard who can't fight when really he's a fucking monster.Eternal Witcher wrote:Glen Damon wrote:Even though during the actual scenes, Legolas takes out about 10 every 5 seconds and Gimli takes 20 seconds to kill a basic Uruk Hai

Like I said, I'm pretty sure that the Dwarves were meant to be the most adept of all normal sized beings(so excluding trolls and Ents) at combat at close quarters. In the films, Gimli just seems slow and slightly too comedic.

Eternal, you should read "Dwarves" by Markus Heitz. It's very much in the LOTR scheme, and it shows the dwarves in their real colours.

Re: Chat Thread
To be honest. Out of all the characters Legolas was the lamest in the book but they had to make him the most bad ass in the film to appease the Female and Homosexual audience.

What is everyone's favourite part of the soundtrack?
I like "Concerning Hobbits" and the one with the violins at Rohan, I can't remember the name

I love a lot of the soundtrack. I have a few select favourites but I would probably need to watch the films again to pick a single one out.Glen Damon wrote:What is everyone's favourite part of the soundtrack?

I love the 2/3 scenes where it looks like we have our backs to the wall, and on the horizon, another squadron of soldiers appears.Eternal Witcher wrote:Glen Damon wrote:
