It took mountains, no, bucketfuls of courage to bring forth that result.BladeGunner wrote:Why are so many of you overplaying the significance of that 6-1 win? Well done, he managed to lead his team to one truly great match this season against a ten man United side after spending astronomical amounts in his two and a half seasons at the club. In that time, it seems that he's only going to have won a single trophy despite having more resources than any other manager in the continent. That, for me, is a gigantic failure.

Will Mancini be sacked if Man City do not win the title?

Must have been a lot of buckets if they had a greater total volume than a mountain. Either that or they were enormous buckets.

Nope, just very small mountains.BladeGunner wrote:Glen Damon wrote:It took mountains, no, bucketfuls of courage to bring forth that result.

So, will Mancini receive the sack if he does not win the title for City this season? In my opinion, he should go. He's been given all of the riches he wants and needs, he has been up against a Man United side plagued with injuries, and his side had all of the momentum after their victory away to Man United. Now though, their weaknesses have been exposed. Without players like Kompany and Toure they look lost. He had the money to fix that though, and he didn't.
What do you think though?
Paul Merson says he will definitely be sacked if they don't win the league.. which means he won't be sacked. City's owners seem rather patient compared to other owners.
Yeah, plus Hughes was absolutely shocking defensively. Every game was like 4-5. He had to go, no doubt.
Cheesy's OP is stupid. If United are so shit, why are they on course for a 90+ point season? You can talk City down, but you have to give them credit for that. It's not like we play United every week, so how does that even have anything to do with Mancini?
Will he be sacked? Probably not. Should he? No.

Hey now, I'm sure it took at least a good mug full of courage to make this thread.

I thought it was quite insightful. Made me knowledgeable of the fact that Manchester City are run by vampires, something I was entirely oblivious to before.

This is his first season with a squad this good. It would be a disgrace if he can't win the title with City this season considering the lack of really good competitors. I'm not sure if he should get sacked this season, but there will be immense pressure on him to perform next season on all fronts now that they have experience.

No, it's his second season with a squad this good.

No, they bought a lot of good players over the summer. They were never this good.

I'm not saying they are bad, but you have to admit they shouldn't be beating ManCity to the title with the squad and problems they have.

Who did they buy over the summer that made their squad a lot better?

Yes, but you have to consider that they lost Tevez so that hasn't done anything to strengthen their squad. Who else?
EDIT - And Adebayor. If anything, their squad is weaker this year in that department.

Doesn't matter if they've got injuries, they've picked up absolutely loads of points. The team is obviously good if they're on course for such a massive points total and there's nothing we can do about that short of beating them twice.

Aguero and Nasri. I thought they bought Silva too this season. But also the players of last season (Silva, Toure, Dzeko, and Balotelli) had time to settle down and gel.

They lost Jerome Boateng and brought in an inferior player. Who else?

Also Milner.
He's been dropped recently, god knows why, but he looked so much better this year than he was last year.

They lost Tevez, Adebayor and Wright-Phillips and brought in Aguero and Nasri. In terms of pure numbers, they have a weaker squad than last season, although in terms of quality, it probably has marginally increased. Players who have had more time to gel are irrelevant to our discussion.

Patrick Vieira retired and they've brought in an adequate replacement (halfway through the season). Let us stop playing this game as it's quite evident that their squad has barely improved since last season.

the "gel" excuse is so pathetic
if a team needs to gel after 2 new signing then give up now

I hope not, the team has been bad lately but he is a decent manager, the headless firing of managers leads to no where. ( take notice that Ajax had 10 managers the last 10 years and only won 2 league trophies despite producing several superstars in the same period)

How so? That means the players are expected to play better. A team that signed 5 or so core players in one season might not play well as a team the first season. But they are expected to do better after 2 seasons. If they haven't settled down yet, then they probably never will.
