Re: Wigan's support
Rugby town or not, that's fucking embarrassing
Look at teams like Hull and Leicester.
Their rugby teams are probably more successful than the football ones yet they still have good crowds and they aren't even Premier League

I dont blame them tbh, I wouldn't travel to Norwich just to see my team lose/draw.

Re: Wigan's support
People can't really take the piss if they've never been to follow their team away. It's a long fucking way from Wigan to Norwich, added to the fact it's a Sunday.

Thing is mate, it looks like roughly the same amount we took away to Macclesfield last Tuesday

We took better then that to Carlisle and we are utterly shit at the moment and added to the fact we only get 2k at home.

Re: Wigan's support
Yeah I agree that it's poor for a top flight team but people on here laugh it off far too easily. If you were faced with a 9 hour plus round trip which was probably 30 quid a ticket and at least that again for travel, with work the next day meaning you couldn't really drink much then I can easily see why people didn't bother. At the end of the day it's a rugby town with a massively over achieving football team, when you are bottom of the league playing terribly I can totally understand why you wouldn't want to spend nearly 10 hours sat on a coach just to see another pile of steaming baba.

Re: Wigan's support
True that but my point still stands we have been shit for a while and still been bringing decent numbers, nearly 400 again yesterday for a journey which was no way near as far yes but only a bit cheaper.
Does make me a laugh when people like Mason laugh at it though hes never seen one of his own stands yet alone any away grounds.

Re: Wigan's support
I went to Under 18 team in the Youth Cup against Wigan on a Wednesday night last month.
We beat them 9-1 and it was freezing cold. Only 3 Wigan fans turned up.
We were chatting to them and he said he'll see us next season, to which I said no we'll be in League 1. But after recent results maybe we will see them next season.

Fair play to the ones that went though it's still very poor numbers for a top flight side. Does anyone know what their average away following is?

I like how they're all compact though mind.
Really annoys me when people sit apart and there's loads of empty seats uneccesary

No its not, it would be ironic if I never went to games and said it, why do people always misuse the term 'ironic'

Re: Wigan's support
Wigan have a very small fanbase. Most people in Wigan either support United or don't like football.
I remember when they beat Arsenal in the Carling cup in 2005 they didn't even fill their own ground.

Re: Wigan's support
Well the Wigan rugby team had an away fixture today but they are in 2nd place of the league rather than the bottom of the table football team. The rugby team was playing in Widnes but I have no clue where that is located. I think it would be more fun to follow the successful rugby team rather the rock bottom of the table football team.

Widnes is very close to Wigan, probably less than 30 minutes in the car.
Being 2nd at this point means nothing really btw, it's only about 6 games in.
Edit: Although it is worth pointing out that they are the most successful Rugby League team in the UK.
