I saw the film first and it was okay. I think I enjoyed it just because I enjoy Johnny Depp playing Hunter S. Thompson.

I'm not very far into the novel, but it already feels really rich.

I am currently enjoying The Autobiography of Malcolm X. Unfortunately, he comes across as a hypocrite in the book at points.

I never looked at a copy of it, scanned it with my eyes and processed it as information in my brain. That's pretty much how.

I read the book prior to seeing the film. The screenplay hardly sticks to the book, and the plot is extremely watered down. You'll realize what I'm talking about as you keep reading it.

Johnny Depp is a great actor but the film version butchered the spirit of the book, in my opinion.
