Cavani MOTM for me. Goal and 2 assists. Though Lavezzi was quite exceptional too. Fantastic result.

what did Neville say?
___
Chelsea were absolutely shocking, Luiz and Cahill partnership is a fucking joke as is their midfield, Meireles was a passenger and instead of blocking Lavezzi's first goal he ran rings around the box Looks like I was right about Ramires btw, he looks good against midtable clubs because they leave him space to run into and score, shocking today, no defending and some shocking passes and touches. People were laughing at me for calling him shit the other day .
Sturridge and Mata were the only decent ones for Chelsea once more, Malouda didn't play too bad either.

Lavezzi: "It is not over but we have a good advantage. We have to go there and play our game and get some goals."
Boring defensive minded league with boring defensive minded players.

Come now, what did Luiz do wrong apart from the third goal? Cahill was solid for most of the match, problem was Ivan not getting back quick enough and not tracking players.Gegilworld93 wrote:what did Neville say?

Ramires was playing as a DM, not his normal position so of course he's gonna be shit. His job wasn't to run into space (Even still he did manage to make a few runs), it was to sit and control the game, something which he is unable to do.
Malouda was shit, didn't do anything apart from tracking back which he did well I'll give him that. He was there for his crosses, I don't think any of them made it past their defence.

AVB can't surely last much longer now. Is the second leg next week or the week after? If they are knocked out, then that has to be it for him.

Not the worst result in the world for us, our away goal keeps us alive.
It's in three weeks.

Sorry for not knowing when the 2nd leg was. Not usual for it to be three weeks after the 1st leg, normally it's one or two weeks.iSamuel wrote:Not the worst result in the world for us, our away goal keeps us alive.easley91 wrote:AVB can't surely last much longer now. NO ENGLISH CLUBS IN THE LAST EIGHT
You know, unless Chelsea win 2-0 at home. Which isn't really a huge ask.

Yeah I don't really recall him putting a foot wrong apart from the third goal, statement was more that he needs a better CB to partner him, Cahill is shaky as hell and really suspect defensively. Needs Terry at his best next to him, needs to know how to play a high line though which Luiz does I give him that.Marvin wrote:Come now, what did Luiz do wrong apart from the third goal? Fair point about Ramires, but still don't see why so many people rate him.

Chelsea should really have done better in this game.
No denying Napoli's firepower....but some really bad defensive errors from Chelsea.

Now for Basel to take down Bayern!...
In all seriousness, great match, the kids at the start with the walk in and CL song, hugging and kissing some of the Napoli players before the handshakes were great.
Lavezzi upped his pricetag by a couple of millions i suppose, very good to watch match had blood sweat and goals.

Fuck Cavani and Lavezzi etc.
Napoli can't function without that amazing hardworking midfield. Praise never goes to the outside midfielders/fullbacks (Maggio and Zuniga) who were so amazing and are the reason why this Napoli formation is functional. Then you have Gargano who never stops running and has great touch and dribbles.
Cavani is a great forward but this system suits him so perfectly, no wonder in Uruguay and at Palermo he's/was pure shit. Same with Lavezzi.

Of course, the huge price tags though get put on attackers more often than midfielders or backs unless they are in the truly exceptional category. Inler has also been very good in the European games for that matter, Lavezzi got to stand out a bit more in this match due to Chelsea being shit defensively. But Napoli certainly wouldn't work so well in these games without their midfield giving it all, which they aren't doing that well in the Italian league or cup games.
As they described in the danish CL studio (Schmeichel, Brian Laudrup & Jan Mølby, United, Chelsea & Liverpool respectively), Chelsea really only had 2 defenders on the pitch to begin with and 1 got injured. That was Bosingwa and Ivanovic, Luiz and Cahill are good footballers but they do not work as a CB pair, they could work separately with a good defensive player, (I suppose Terry if he can stay on his feet) but as Mølby pointed out some of the worst results for Bolton was with Cahill and another not so defensively minded player as his CB partner.

Scott. wrote:19Jones19v wrote:Don't think Chelsea have a chance at all tonight, Napoli will come out firing from all angles and stun the Chelsea defence. Yeah they're back 3 aint great, but they defend in numbers with Maggio and Zuniga/Dossena making it a 5 at the back when Chelsea have the ball. If I was a Chelsea fan I'd hope Terry doesn't play simply because Lavezzi will have him on his arse numerous times. Main threat for Chelsea will come from set-pieces. Hope it's a good open game with goals for Napoli
Like you predicted easy wins for Arsenal last 2 games?
