Wenger - I need to make £15-20M profit every season.

Arsene Wenger has admitted his admiration for Lille’s £30m-rated Eden Hazard - but the Arsenal boss says he is under pressure each season to make between £15m and £20m in profit on transfers in news that may not go down well with Arsenal fans.

It is understood that Wenger had £35m to spend in January but chose not to and the club are likely to record huge profits of up to £60m before the end of the season.

Wenger, who sold Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri for nearly £60m last summer, said: “You should know that each season, it is imperative to show a profit of between fifteen and twenty million pounds. I would add that the purpose of a coach is to always buy at a price he sees fit.

“I really like him (Hazard) and, for several reasons: it's his creative power, his ability to mis-align the opponent, his vision of the game and his consummate skill to address the last pass which make him a very interesting player.”


Arsenal are also set to go on TWO separate money-spinning tours this summer even though Wenger has always fought against long haul trips in pre-season.

They are scheduled to go to Seoul, Beijing and Hong Kong before returning to London and then doing another trip to Nigeria.

He means transfers. The club can generate a £30m profit with ease without transfers, especially with ticket price increases and the rest of the Highbury apartments being sold. We're a selling club but so many people seem to think we have money to spend when we really don't. We are 18th in the highest spenders in Premier League history.

He means transfers. The club can generate a £30m profit with ease without transfers, especially with ticket price increases and the rest of the Highbury apartments being sold. Yes because of the sales of Fabregas and Nasri, which I doubt Wenger would see anyway because of the likelihood of us not making the Champions League. £35m to Arsenal is transfer fee and first year of the players contract too.

Since 1992 we average a net spend of £1m a season. We have never been huge spenders.

The article made it seem like he had £35M to spend on transfers in January and he chose not to.
