    Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal could have taken something from the game.

    "I believe yes, because we gave everything," he said. "The game was very intense, both teams were well-organised, the intensity of the game was very high and on a very bad pitch.

    "Overall the technical quality of the game suffered from a very bad pitch and that was why on both sides you've seen unusual technical mistakes."

    Wenger added: "I don't think we failed to deliver; we lost a game and that can happen here."




    Arsenal have never under Wenger, not gotten at least a point at Old Trafford, and then gone on to win the league. Why can't he just admit that they played poorly.

    I'd hardly call him making a comment about the pitch an excuse. Nowhere in that block text does he say anything about us losing due to the pitch.

    Gotta agree with Arise on this one. I see no excuse making in there at all.

    He didn't say "we lost because of the pitch." Both teams had to play on the same pitch. And ok, Emirates has the most pristine pitch in the league but you'd have to draw a few degrees of inferences to conclude that he was driving for an excuse here.

    I saw the interview and Wenger said the technical game suffered for BOTH TEAMS because of the pitch.

    He's not saying we lost because of it but the game was not so spectacular to watch.

    pitch probably needing to being relayed

    usually they do this once a year, maybe twice

    if they have many concert in old trafford usually that will ruin pitch a lot

    Every team coming to your home ground and playing 11 men behind the ball all game.

    Every team except Forest have done that to us this season. Neutral

    Don't see an excuse about us losing there. He makes a very valid point about the pitch being bad, and how it affected the game for both teams....

    This reminds me years ago when Barca were playing against a spanish team where their pitch was so bad both teams where forced to do long balls the whole game.

    No doubt that Fergie would've arranged for the pitch to grow a bit longer than usual... good gamesmanship imo, it's your home ground so why not put it in your advantage
