I'm pretty sure that website uploaded illegal copyrighted content, so that is fair enough.

Technically it's the users that uploaded them. When it was reported, they would take it down.

I see. In that case, it seems incredibly harsh.ahlycotc wrote:Technically it's the users that uploaded them. When it was reported, they would take it down.

Hahahaha no.Viva Ronaldo 7 wrote:is Youtube and Daily Motion safe from this shit?
No site is safe. Not youtube, not DailyMotion, not rapidshare/fileserve/etc. not facebook, not vimeo, not twitter, not paypal, not wikipedia, not amazon, not google, not pornhub, not microsoft(bing), not even this fucking site is safe, I am pretty certain we have posted tons of illegal shit on here. (which isn't even the biggest issue, the fact that this forum is hosted on a domain who may have other sites who posted illegal content is enough to shut down this site) SOPA states that any "site that offers goods or services in a manner that engages in, enables, or facilitates in any violation" can be shut down. That Bold/Underline could mean FUCKING ANYTHING.
The worst part about this SOPA is that it gives power to the big 4 media companies that run everything in the United States the power to shut down any site they want on their own whim, WITHOUT EVEN PROVING THEY ARE GUILTY. If they even have the slightest whim of illegal actions, they can shut down any site they want. But wait, it get's worse, if a company is found to be wrongfully accused and shut down, they cannot counter-sue the big media companies. SOPA specifically protects them saying in simple english, that because the site facilitated the possibility of said illegal actions, they must be liable for all damages.
That's not even the worse of it. If a site even 'makes deliberate actions to avoid confirming a high probability...' which means makes it difficult for authorities to confirm or even speculate that the site is doing anything illegal, then they are already automatically considered involved in illegal activities. An analogy would be someone being in their house and locking the doors, closing the shutters and blinds, being automatically convicted of growing marijuana on their property; this is just the virtual equivalent.
I hope I helped explain a few things about what SOPA means to some of you.

No point in the internet existing anymore then.

All I care about is The PirateBay, I would be lost without it.
I couldn't give about the other sites.

Yeah and SOPA would make it even easier for government/corporations to do this type of stuff.

Yep. There other others out there, but this is one of the biggest ones.

Can it ever come back on, or is this it? Gone forever?
