That supposed penalty incident was everything that is wrong with football, both players couldn't wait to hit the floor. Nothing in it at all, two players just waiting to dive onto the floor and appear a lot weaker than they both are.kyro7 wrote:Don't give a shite really, a freekick that we could do nothing about and an error by the keeper, we played well enough in the second half to keep it 3-0, plus could have had a goal ourselves and should have had a penalty.Uncle John from Jamaica wrote:I know United fans will be happy with the win, but none of them could look me in the eye and say they were happy with the second half. 3 goals and a man up, to concede 2 without reply is pretty garbage really.

Kyro how can you say you could have done nothing against the free kick? That logic also applies to penalties, you could have just not fouled him in the first place.

I don't think it was a freekick to be honest, Richards pulled Evra first.

He didn't foul him. Richards pulled Evra down.Zzonked wrote:Kyro how can you say you could have done nothing against the free kick? That logic also applies to penalties, you could have just not fouled him in the first place.

What are you talking about, Valencia was fouled.Uncle John from Jamaica wrote:That supposed penalty incident was everything that is wrong with football, both players couldn't wait to hit the floor. Carrick sliding over was funny in that freekick, like one of those ragdolls you play in games or something

Bet you thought it was a red card for Kompany as well yes?Kuled wrote:I don't think it was a freekick to be honest, Richards pulled Evra first.
Kyro - turn it in. If you want to see football become a cotton wool sport then go ahead. The defender had already tried to go down far too easily to claim Valencia had fouled him and Valencia duly obliged to chuck himself to the deck before any contact was made.
Don't even know if we are on about the same thing but if we aren't I apologise.

Even if it was a foul which it wasn't, I'm not trying to put your goal down, I mean from our end it's not like we could have done too much with it, you scored and we couldn't stop a great shot is all I'm saying.Zzonked wrote:Didn't think of it like that, I've not seen it since.

Considering Kompany had both feet off the ground and they were straight when heading towards the player it's hard to argue that the red card isn't correct. Refs get hammered for not hitting down hard on straight two-footed tackles. For a two footed tackle it was expertly done, but it's still two footed.

Reminds of when Cahill got sent off at Arsenal for his two footed tackle, despite getting all off the ball.

It is no doubt the best two footed tackle I have seen, but refs are hammered for not hitting down on it. It's a little harsh considering the perfect execution, but he would have been crucified if Nani had stayed his ground and broke his leg. That tackle would have snapped him in two.

Never a red, but it shouldn't get overturned if the FA are going to be consistent.

He was pissed, as was the whole team, and made a few comments here and there but no, there wasn't an appeal. No point really.Zzonked wrote:Marvin wrote:Reminds of when Cahill got sent off at Arsenal for his two footed tackle, despite getting all off the ball.

Edit - Turns out they did appeal afterall, was turned down. Hardly surprising.

It's dangerous, he knows he shouldn't do that. What if he hit Nani? It could have been bad.

Fucking what if? He didn't hit Nani. How can you send him off for 'what if?'

What if any tackle hit a player and they got hurt, thats a useless statement

It wasn't even a too-footed lunge actually, the challenge was with his right leg then he folowed through with his left.

What? You mean if they look at it and think it's the wrong decision it shouldn't get overturned? What?Dan wrote:Never a red, but it shouldn't get overturned if the FA are going to be consistent.

The foot that got the ball, he hooked his foot round it properly. I can understand if someone gets the ball but puts their studs through it and gets sent off. That may have got the ball but it is dangerous. However Kompany hooked his foot round and didn't go through the ball/player at all. We may as well send anyone off who does a sliding tackle now, because both feet will be used in some way.

Maybe I'm just being biased but I can't see that as a red at all.
