If he was as good as Liverpool fans say then he'd be around the first team now.

I've seen him play and I was very impressed, but he can't be the best young talent in England if he's not getting near your first team.

He's only turned 17 Mal. Also he's black so that lowers his first team chances greatly.

    That made me chuckle. shifty

You obviously know fuck all about Nicola Cortese then.

    http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2414134,00.html

The teenager agreed personal terms and passed a medical this afternoon in one of the biggest deals in Championship history, which sees Saints' previous transfer records blown out of the water.

The deal for the midfielder - who had made it clear he saw his future away from Southampton, was done with Saints in the driving seat for the duration of the protracted negotiations and the transfer was completed on our terms

Cortese said in an interview somewhere that he wanted over ten million quid for him, plus a big sell-on clause.

If it's a record fee, it must be over £10m, considering our previous was pretty close to that. And 'blown out the water' sort of implies that the fee was a lot higher than the Dean Richards deal.

I think it was said that the fee was:

    £12m up front
    £3m in various add ons.
    25% sell on clause.

    A) Publishing 'Blown out the water' means fuck all, is there a written law mentioning that writing that means something? It's using vague words with certain implicit meanings to make fans like yourself feel satisfied that your club just sold your best academy graduate of the decade.

    B) The breaking of the record does not specify if it's before or after the clauses come into effect, it could may well be two Mars bars, a blow job for Wenger and £10 million over 72 years if Oxlade-Chamberlain gets a Ballon D'Or and Silent Stan will even though in a vibrator into the deal so the record can be broken.

    C) I don't know anything about Nicola Cortese, is he your janitor or something? Funny if he is because I don't know what kind of club gets their janitor to make demands.

I will be eagerly waiting for your rebuttal.

I think you missed the key point that it was completed on 'our terms', i.e. what Cortese has stated he wanted for the player (12-15m straight up cash).

Have you thought about why the fee was undisclosed, maybe you are embarrassed at how much you paid for a 17 year old untried above League 1. Young Players to Watch in 2012 - Page 4 3925848005

To be fair, he looks like a brilliant prospect, maybe even one of the brightest in England and we've signed him young to teach him the Arsenal way. We could also end up getting 10-12 years service out of him before selling him for £20m when he's plagued by injuries. Young Players to Watch in 2012 - Page 4 3925848005

Again, media bullshit to win over the fans, your press department think they're clever, making vague statements to the average season ticket holder will fill in the blanks with his wildest dreams. Of course the Southampton officials can't back up there claims with hard hitting facts and figures because there would be legal ramifications, how convenient for the Southampton janitor, what's-his-face, to keep his integrity and to win over the Saints faithful.
