In terms of their position right now, they most certainly are. Whether they will be within 8-10 points by the end of the season, I don't think so.

I dont think we can win the league, we have a lot of difficult away fixtures in the 2nd half of the season and I dont see both city and united dropping enough points to allow us back into it. if united and city had champions league still I think it would be more possible. We need more depth at CB, A new winger, A new striker and maybe a new LB and GK and we'll be contenders next season.

To be fair to Spurs, when they got hammered by Manchesters United and City they were without Parker and Modric, with those two in there they are a far far better side.

They're evidently a good side, and their consistency has been astonishing (nothing like the Tottenham of old). I don't think they have a chance of winning the league though. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a deterioration in the quality of their performances during the second half of the season. Adebayor, Bale and van der Vaart have a history of fading away during the second half of a league season. If those three fail to maintain their current form, they will struggle. Top 4 is highly likely in any case though.

I was at the game, it was pretty depressing tbh when we heard Livermore and Kranjcar were our centre midfield away to man united. We didn't have adebayor and the whole modric saga was still going. The table since the window closed has us top of the league so its not bad at all!

Its impossible to compare Gerrard and Parker because they play completely different roles - plus Gerrard has been injured for donkeys. If you want to make comparisons then Parker vs Lucas, Modric vs Adam and VDV vs Gerrard.

Anyway, back to speaking to someone who actually knows something about football. We were crying out for a striker who can hold the ball up and score goals - Ade has done this brilliantly. Personally i underrated Parker before he came but hes been brilliant - constantly running, harrassing the oppo and giving the ball to the players who can then go and attack. Hes even benefitted King who said he isn't as tired because Parker keeps the workload off him.

Plus, we have to take into account that Parker looks like some 1950s footballer with his dodgy hair, black boots and shirt tucked in, what a ledge.

Yeah, i didn't think much of Parker either before he came. Converted me pretty much straight away though. Exactly the sort of player we were missing in midfield. Gives Modric a more free role.

I'll be honest, that post wasn't 100% and it wasn't meant to sound that aggressive.

Either way, Gerrard's a better midfielder than Parker, and that's what I was getting at.

Fair enough. Well Gerrard is definitely better at attacking than Parker but Parker is a better defensive midfielder. Different horses for different courses!

Just had a quick look at your fixture results, yeah, you've had an easy run compared to most. Second half of the season will see you back where you belong.

That doesn't matter. We had the toughest start in the league and were 6th but then the easier teams beat us. A bit like what's happening at Liverpool.
