What does it even mean? The fact that we went out in 2005 and Ferguson was criticised? What relevance does it have to today?

Our football has been declining the last two years
i dont mean the style of football(although we hardly played superb football with ronaldo, we just had a better counter attack. outside that ronaldo would just save us most of the games), i mean the chances created compared to opponents. we still outplay them and create more chances.

going out the CL, it happens. i cant believe the amount of unlucky things that happened to us this CL campaign, it just wasnt meant to be. on another time we would have thumped benfica and basel at OT, freaky things prevented it from happening. like the newcastle game

Maybe you should watch some of the matches.

Do you think the United board would ever sack Fergie?

Fergie will probably treat the Europa League as a the FA Youth Cup anyway, fielding out youngsters and shit players such as Gibson and Macheda.

Surely you would want to win the Europa League? I think it is the only chance you have of winning something this season.

Eh I don't really think Marvin Martin is all that from what I have seen...

We have the best defence in the world tbh, and our attack is pretty good too, but you keep forgetting our midfield isn't good enough, and that is where most matches are won or lost.
Also our football has declined. It's nothing like how we played in 2008, and although our football started out great this season, it has really fallen since then. Not to mention how we played in the late 90s...
Danny wrote:Tbh, shit defending did us against Benfica and Basel.
4 goals we shouldn't concede in those games, and we did.
Didn't help that last night their right back got away with a lovely 1-2 off his crossbar, Rooney missed a sitter etc.. though.
To be fair thw defence isn't getting any help from the midfield. A team of our stature should be able to take charge of that area and stop them before they reach the defence. Wasn't the best, but when they are facing 4-5 attackers without much help, the midfield not closing down players outiside the area, and the attacking team has good movement it really isn't surprising they can't cope with it.

I like winning trophies, so yeah, obviously. But I would like to see how our youngsters (Pogba,Fryers, Morrison) stack up against Europe's "second rate" teams.

Who does then? Barcelona doesn't really have the best defence, it's virtually their only weakness, Manchester City have a quality one, but I'd still say our centreback pairing is better. Real Madrids defence you might have a case for though I admitt, Chelsea's defence is too inconsistent, Inter definitely does not, nor does Juve or Napoli. Bayern Munich is strong, but I don't see them as stronger than ours.

Man City and Madrid's are two I can think of straight away which are better.

Hmmm.
FA Cup - Got City. Anyone who wasn't bias would predict a City win.
Premier League - City 5 points ahead. Look unstopable at the moment.
Carling Cup - United are out.
Europa League - Only chance United have of winning something.
Hmmm.

Well it's not the only chance if we're 5 points off of City and still in the FA Cup is it?Liverpool wrote:VivaRonaldo wrote:

City are unstoppable. Hammered you 6-1 at OT. Expect them to hammer you again.

It doesn't matter what you expect, what you expect or what is likely doesn't mean our only chance is the Europa League, and any way City are in that too so if City are so unstoppable we obviously have no chance according to you, so please leave now.Liverpool wrote:kyro7 wrote:Well it's not the only chance if we're 5 points off of City and still in the FA Cup is it?

Unstoppable? So that's why they're not in the CL either then?
Yeah they had a harder group, but they're not fucking unstoppable.

United having the world's best defence?
Vidic is defo top 3 I give him that but Ferdinand is rapidly declining and let's not forget, a defence consists of fullbacks too, Evra is still good but United don't have any good RBs.
Milan have a better defence imo, Nesta is still class, Thiago Silva is the world's best CB imo and Abate is great too, not a world class LB though (Taiwo has been shit and Antonini is average).
Barca's defence is definitly better when Puyol is fit and so is Real's.

Ferdinand is not rapidly declining, that's a myth, since Rio and Vidic have been together we've been absolutely fucking solid, not the best defence in the world though, Evra's positioning defensively is awful, as Marvin said Madrid and City are superior at defending, still think Rio and Vidic is the best defensive partnership in the world though.

Bullshit, on December 8th 2010 Chelsea had won only 1 of their last 6 League games, including getting violated 3-0 at home by Sunderland, going down 2-0 at Anfield, and losing against Birmingham City of all teams.
