Hi there. This’ll be my first CM on these forums with my supported team, Chelsea.
Alike another thread on this forum, my CM could be classed as casual. Therefore, this thread will be focused on the writing aspect of updates as opposed to one with graphics. There’ll be one reserve, after that if you wish to do so you can post.

Chelsea Football Club’s official website has announced the club’s pre-season plans ahead of the 2011/12 Premier League season. It was said that Chelsea are planning a trip to Australia, where they’ll face Australian superstars Brisbane Roar FC and Central Coast Mariners. Chelsea, however aren’t the only non-Australian team in the competition with fellow Premier League side Norwich City flying to the southern hemisphere.

Despite the hectic journey required to travel, Chelsea have remained both positive and enthusiastic. Chelsea’s new appointed manager Andre Villas-Boas will be expecting his team to represent England’s league, along with newly promoted Norwich City. Chelsea is set to aboard a plane in the late evening – early morning.

Whilst on paper it may seem like Chelsea are clear favourites to win the competition, with Norwich City following behind alas there may be more than on show than a humiliation of Australian opponents. With the absurd change in temperature, surely Chelsea will not be able to perform at the highest level. The dates for the following matches are as followed:

    Saturday 23rd July
Central Coast Mariners v Chelsea (11:45pm)
Brisbane Roar v Norwich City (12.30pm)

    Sunday 24th July
    W1 v W2 (11.30pm)

What’s your prediction? – Please check the reserve for information on the prediction league when updated.

Chelsea began their pre-season campaign with a stunning victory over Australian side, Central Coast Mariners at the Bluetongue stadium this afternoon. Chelsea hit eight past the Mariners and are set to play current Australian champions Brisbane Roar, after they pulled of an unexpected win against the newly promoted Premier League side. Despite Chelsea’s comfortable victory, Alexander Wilkinson hit the crossbar from an astonishing range mid-way through the first attack of the game.

That, of course didn’t affect Chelsea’s confidence going into the game as they admittedly regained possession with centre defensive midfielder, Michael Essien who strung a beautiful through pass across the pitch gifting an early goal to England’s young international, Daniel Sturridge. Twenty minutes then passed which saw Chelsea score four more goals, courtesy of Frank Lampard, Juan Mata and Fernando Torres. The half time whistle went, with Chelsea leading by four goals.

We aren’t aware of what Chelsea were told in the dressing room at half time, although Chelsea took their foot off the pressure. They sat back, relaxed, and defended for ten minutes and welcomed several attacks from the opposition. However, the substitution of Fernando Torres for Didier Drogba saw Chelsea turn their game around, Didier himself managed to get one too which was shortly followed by a second goal for Frank Lampard.

The Mariners, who were exhausted and already arguably finished, kept throwing around sloppy balls, giving easy balls to Chelsea’s strikers, who had already tasted the goal mouth, and they both tasted the juice of the net once again. Perhaps it wasn’t the most respectable victory, although that didn’t remove the smiles off the Chelsea players. They had won, and were set to play Brisbane the following day.

*I have ignored predictions for this game, seeing as I only received one. Predictions will start at the beginning of the season.*

    First Half

Didier Drogba opened the scoring in Australia after a fairly open 18 minutes. An interchange of passes between England’s Frank Lampard and Spain’s Juan Mata after dispossessing Murdocca in the middle of the pitch lead to a clear pass to the unmarked African who held his nerve to slot the ball past Theoklitos. Brisbane almost equalised in the 27th minute when a well-timed cross from the left flank found Henrique who then smashed a volley wide of the far post. Afterwards, Chelsea spent the rest of the time remaining in the first half to find a goal that’d hopefully kill off the opponents. Unfortunately for Andre Villas-Boas’ men the second goal came from the home side thanks to a well worked corner by Broich which found Sayed Mohamed Adnan.

    Second Half

Brisbane’s late equaliser in the second half proved vital as the game restarted, Chelsea who dominated an Australia side the day before were hoping to do the same here. Chelsea had numerous amounts of opportunities to get a goal, most notably being Raul Meireles’ open goal chance. But obviously in football you can never write a side off, regardless as their stature as Brisbane had a penalty awarded in the 78th minute. Berisha stepped up, and sent Petr Čech the wrong way. The momentum was now with the home side, the atmosphere was epic, and Chelsea was pushing on for a late equaliser. Salomon Kalou was introduced in place of Daniel Sturridge, making his near 150th appearance for the club. It didn’t take long for the Ivorian to make a huge impact in the game, providing a magical cross for the waited Didier Drogba at the back post to score into an empty net. The game was level, and the clock was ticking away. Not much happened after Chelsea’s second goal, with both teams sitting back and hoping for the best in the penalty shootout. It’s more than noticeable that Chelsea’s penalty record isn’t the greatest, so the next couple of minutes mightn't be great for the blues.

Mauricio Isla - Immigration to England, United Kingdom
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chelsea Football Club has announced their first signing of the new 2011 transfer window for an admirable fee of £14m. The 23-year old travelled to West London on Tuesday for his medical – which he passed without problem – and he signed a three-year contract with the Blues. Several current Chelsea players commented on the signing of Mauricio Isla on CFCTV, including his set to be defensive partner, John Terry: “I am very happy to be working with a player of such stature, and hopefully Mauri will look forward to defending against some of the best players in the world.”

Although Isla was expected to lead Udinese’s backline in the upcoming season, he’s been looking for a way out of the club for a couple of seasons. He sincerely believes that Udinese won’t be able to challenge for European football, with the likes of Antonio Di Natale and Mehdi Benatia being linked to Manchester City. Mauricio also added: “Chelsea is a brilliant side, a team which plays great football every week. They’re challenging with the best, and I don’t think it’ll be long until they conquer Europe.

Chelsea Football Club saw off interest from several English clubs – including Arsenal – to sign Mauricio Isla, who is expected to replace Portuguese international, José Bosingwa. Isla, who didn’t play in the club’s pre-season games, is more than expected to start in Chelsea’s first game of the season against Stoke.
