I agree with Kyro's first point about fans who support shit teams think they're better, they say stuff like "You have it easy supporting a big club, we're proper football fans", well I'm sorry, but I didn't choose who to support. Maybe if my Dad traveled all over the country supporting Tranmere I'd be more likely to support them, but he didn't, he followed Liverpool all over Europe, so I'm obviously going to be more drawn to them.

I did, but he's wrong. His classificatoon of Chelsea as an icon comes from the last 7 years. Before that, back when the Premiership was establishing itself, you know in the 90s, Manchester United was without a doubt the iconic figure of the league. That did not changw with Roman and Jose.

And anyway, I had a choice of two teams to support as a kid, United and Spurs, and my dad is the United fan so I went with him because he's into football way more than my mum.. I didn't really have too much of a choice. So don't give a shite what people like you think of who I support.

They're certainly an iconic Premier League club but to say they're more iconic than the team which has dominated English football for the best part of 20 years is ludicrous.

I personally wouldn't even say they were the second most iconic club during the Premier League era.

I'm not trying to have a go at you or anything cause I respect that you follow your team up and down the country, even though they aren't great. I just don't think you should have a go at others (or come across like that) as it's their decision who they want to support.

I don't see why lower league fans get all worked up about people supporting big clubs. Everyone is entitled to support who they want.

That's because we made the right choice in deciding what teams to support. If everyone supported the big teams then the smaller teams wouldn't exist. We keep our team alive whereas fans of big teams just give money to TV companies for it to be shared out.

Fans of big teams think they're superior as well. Almost everyone who finds out that I support Leeds says "Leeds are a shit club who aren't in the Champions League".

We also get ignored more than others because we "don't support a big club". I've seen it happen on here. People just think that because we don't support a big club, we have a shit opinion. I don't even watch many Premier League games but I know more about the clubs history/players/season so far than some of the supporters on here. That's not a brag statement by the way.

I don't rate teams that have used money to get where they are from nowhere. I'll always see the likes of Man City as a small club because spending money to get instant success is like cheating at a game.

This reminds me of a guy I know that always bashes on people whenever they talk about Premier League football or big name clubs, and always brags that he supports Reading and knows the most about football out of anyone in our school. The last bit there is probably actually true to be honest, but it just annoys me that he has to bud into every conversation saying anyone who supports a big name team isn't a real football fan. Besides we are in Canada for shits sake, this guy's parents were born in Reading or something (he was born in Canada) so he supports Reading and has to watch every game online because we don't even get championship football down here.

Tell him to become a Leaf fan (hockey) if he wants to know what its like to supprt a big club through tough times... ask LFC fans, in all honesty, it is tougher to support a large club that struggles than a small one that does.
