all he did was change their style to the possession high pressure game but that wouldnt work with 99% of the teams in the world. when messi doesnt play well barca doesnt

he took charge when messi matured.. simple as
all he did was change their style to the possession high pressure game but that wouldnt work with 99% of the teams in the world. when messi doesnt play well barca doesnt

I don't know though ViVa, maybe you're right, and Guardiola is just a mug who landed in the right place at the right time, whose tactics are shit. What does that say about Ferguson then, who lost the two biggest games of his career to such a fool?

Re: Manchester United FC Official Thread
It says he was against better players... which he was. barca didnt change anything for the final, they dont have to. Messi showed up in both final so barca showed up
you seem to be looking at those individual games alot. i am talking about overall,Guardiola has shown time and time again he is not very smart manager. he hasnt signed a single defender when every season they get huge injuries there. he only has 2 senior defenders, thats just stupid
then when messi is out the team look clueless. today all they did was pass pass pass, messi wasnt on his day to breal down the opponents. there is no Plan B

2009 United had the following players to pick from, excluding unfit players
van der Sar, Foster
O'Shea, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Evans
Carrick, Giggs, Scholes, Anderson, Park, Nani
Cristiano Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov
Guardiola picked this line-up
Valdes,
Sylvinho, Pique, Toure, Puyol
Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta
Eto'o, Messi, Henry
--
I don't see a massive gap in quality between those two sets of players. United had the best individual players in the world in many positions, the FIFA WPotY and Ballon d'Or holder, and world class players in other positions, much like Barcelona. There was no great gulf there on paper, but the management that night was so poor that there was a great fucking gulf on grass.

gulf in class?? i wouldnt say that at all. first 15 mins it was all us then they score a scrappy goal (bad defending) then they just kept possession whole game... they didnt create much we didnt create much then they scored from a counter attack near the end
they had 12 shots, we had 11
they had 12 shots, we had 11

Even looking at that midfield is depressing.

Not true, in the second half we had more possession than them.

which made it worse for us, since alves is the worse defender. would have favoured ronaldo against alves alot more

Because he and a young Pique kept a clean sheet against Rooney and Ronaldo.

Re: Manchester United FC Official Thread
young pique? he was already estabilshed by then so dont know why you but the 'young' in there. you made it sound like it was his debut or something
and Yaya had played there before, against chelsea actually and had done very well. which again boggles to mind as to why Pep shut him out and sold him
also... rooney played wide you mong

Pique is only 24, so 2/3 years ago he was 'young' and he kept a clean sheet against Rooney and Ronaldo.

Is this the typical Dani Alves can't defend argument?

?? he had played there whole season. he also had a full season in la liga 2 seasons before where he did very well, then went back to man utd for a season then went to barca after that
hardly lacking experience

Pique wasn't their first choice CB by the way, Marquez was, but he was injured, Abidal and Alves were suspended.

It's disappointing not to have won today, but these sort of frustrasting games come along every so often, It's how you respond to them that counts.
