He's trying to kill Chamberlain already

Looks like that is the team.
I like that team. Solid defence and goalkeeper.
Just hope Chamberlain does better than his pathetic performance in the last match. If he plays like he does for Arsenal, then he'll be an important weapon for us.
Thought it was written everywhere that Downing would be starting?

Not trying to tart anything up here, but people go on about our injuries as if they are a problem. True they severely lower our depth, but none of the players injured deserved to start
Lampard - Would be great to have in the squad, but his inclusion in the starting 11 instantly diminishes Gerrards position and fucks up the entire system built around him and Parker.
Cahill - Good backup for the defence, however I believe Lescott is a much much better defender and far more experienced and in my opinion was the best English defender in the league last season.
Barry - A backup for Parker, simple as that.
Anyone who uses an these injuries as an excuse for anything other than depth(Most likely the English media) are idiots.

I'd rather Lampard than Gerrard all day long, especially in a two man central midfield partnership.

Yeah, yeah, blah, blah.
Watch Gerrard be our best player until Rooney comes in.

Why wouldn't you? Lampard just led Chelsea to win the Champions League and FA Cup, Gerrard has been inconsistent and plauged by injuries for a while now.
Do you still honestly think he suits playing that deep in midfield more than Lampard?

Broken record as usual. I don't sing Gerrard's praises, but this is boring.

His performances were outstanding since Di Matteo took over.ScottyBoy_1989 wrote:Steadman wrote:Why wouldn't you? Lampard just led Chelsea to win the Champions League and FA Cup, Gerrard has been inconsistent and plauged by injuries for a while now.

He took up a different role and really excelled.ScottyBoy_1989 wrote:Steadman wrote:Why wouldn't you? Lampard just led Chelsea to win the Champions League and FA Cup, Gerrard has been inconsistent and plauged by injuries for a while now.

If Chamberlain starts is that a 4-3-3 or is he just playing on the left of a 4-4-2?
Guest- Guest
Yeah, okay.
Gerrard is still the better player to start.

Because his name is Steven Gerrard and plays for Liverpool?ScottyBoy_1989 wrote:Yeah, okay.

I'm not saying he's a bad player but he should be challenging Young for the more advanced role if Lampard was fit.
Guest- Guest
Depends where it is, if it's more advanced then sure, but if it's next to Parker I'd pick Lampard.

He took the bait quite easy. People grasp at the typical Gerrard/Lampard argument.Eternal Witcher wrote:Steadman wrote:I'd rather Lampard than Gerrard all day long, especially in a two man central midfield partnership.

That first line is a pathetic, cheap shot. You child.
He did well the last two games and played a part in the goal Young scored in the first game by pressuring the opponent well.
Still standing by my comment about him being the best player for us until Rooney comes in. Watch him shine.
Cabaye has come out and said Gerrard is the most feared and important England player according to the French camp.

Lampard has been playing in a 4-2-3-1 next to Obi Mikel brilliantly for the last few months.
Gerrard has been a pile of shit in Liverpool's midfield.
Lampard better in the deep midfield role, Gerrard better in the hole. Anyone who think's different is a clown.

Frank "shoot from anywhere inside of 30 meters" Lampard? That Lampard?

Yet we all know that if both were fit that Hodgson would choose him over Lampard for the current role in midfield. But I suppose everyone else knows better than an experienced international manager.Chris wrote:Lampard has been playing in a 4-2-3-1 next to Obi Mikel brilliantly for the last few months.

Not sure if some people commenting here have watched football in the last 6 months.
Gerrard has been a clown with a lot of Liverpool fans saying he should be dropped etc
Lampard has been a huge part of Chelsea winning the biggest trophy in club football and the FA Cup.

His passing was average against Norway and Belgium. He lost possession because he tried too many long, driven through balls from far too deep when all he had to do was play a simple pass and move into space. He also leaves far too many gaps for good opposition to exploit when playing in a two man midfield. Lampard is much more tactically disciplined than Gerard and is more suited playing next to Parker.ScottyBoy_1989 wrote:That first line is a pathetic, cheap shot. You child.

Who cares what Cabaye says? Didn't Zidane once say Gerard was the best player in the world? Doesn't mean a thing.

From a neutral point of view, Lampard should play instead of Gerrard in a two man midfield.
