Goalkeeper Ciaran Kelly was Sligo's penalty hero once again as they retained the FAI Ford Cup at the Aviva Stadium. The Bit O' Red won four-one on penalties after the final had finished 1-1 after extra-time.
Kelly saved four spot-kicks as Sligo lifted the cup last year and he worked the oracle again, coming on as a last-minute substitute to make stops from Kevin Dawson and Colm James in the shoot-out, before Raffaele Cretaro scored the crucial spot-kick.
Philly Hughes had given Shels the lead in the first half, before the Reds had Barry Clancy harshly sent-off.
Iarfhlaith Davoren then equalised for Sligo on 48 minutes.
