I was going to post this but didn't because I knew Ahly would eventually stumble upon it and do the work for me.
As far as I know, he got sent off for getting a second yellow for taking off his shirt, really really harsh but technically it's by the book.(I think anyhow, what the fuck do I know, I'm not a ref )

Re: Substitution Fails
Why he not wait another 10-15 seconds to take his shirt off? The player here is just as big of an idiot as the ref is here. It is a stupid rule but it is an easy rule to follow. I always wondered what would the process be if something like this happened.

Re: Substitution Fails
I wonder if the red carded player can be replaced or if the team plays down a man. It depends on whether the referee considers the player an active player or someone who is already substituted.

Re: Substitution Fails
Now that's some pretty big bullshit.
I feel sorry for the guy rearing up to come on!

Re: Substitution Fails
Well at least in the case of Billy Sharp the ref had enough common sense to not book him for flipping up his shirt to honor his son. I wonder if that ref got in any trouble? Also how exactly does this law of the game work? Do you have to take the shirt entirely off or if you lift it up few a few seconds are you still going to get booked?

This. Shouldn't have really taken off his shirt until he was off technically, but giving a second yellow for that is a bit harsh.Weather130 wrote:Why he not wait another 10-15 seconds to take his shirt off? You have to take it over your head, the Balotelli "Why Always Me?" would have been perfectly fine if he had just held the shirt up to his chin rather than pull it over his head, which was risky too, he might not have been able to get it on again.

I don't see why Billy Sharp can get away with it but no-one else can.

Re: Substitution Fails
Still an active player, meaning the substitute won't be allowed to get on the pitch, hence why the opposition players were so keen for Inkoom to get sent off.ahlycotc wrote:I wonder if the red carded player can be replaced or if the team plays down a man. Re: Substitution Fails
Yeah, I'd have thought that bit was obvious - you don't get sent off for taking your shirt off if you're not an active player
