Re: GTA Five
if san andreas was re released tomorrow on 360 and ps3 with full online modes and updated graphics at least 99% of people would chose that game over gta4 FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
san andreas was indeed probably the best game ever on ps2. u are probably a final fantasy fan or MGS that is angry about this fact
im being totally honest, gta 4 was a pile of shit compared to SA. millions still played SA after the game was released without any online access and still playe it today. if u took out the online options of GTA4 no one would touch that thing aside from a few people. its too boring and doesnt offer the variety of things like in san andreas especially considering SA was on a poorer platform and made many years before
where do u think SA falls short? as a sand box game it was the best on the market in that time. the graphics at the time was unstoppable, the length, hours upon hours of gameplay. that game had perfect combination for modern gaming systems. that game would easily outsell black ops if it was released 3 years later on the newer gen consoles

Re: GTA Five
I thought the music on Eps from Liberty City was better than GTA IV.
If they're actually different. I certainly never heard the good songs from it on GTA IV.

Re: GTA Five
Nope, not a fan of those games.
I'll tell you the positives of SA:
Great Cheats
Aeroplanes
A lot of freedom
Negatives:
Bland characters (Big Smoke is an exception)
Rubbish storyline
Average map
Auto aim shooting (If you can turn it off, then don't count this as a negative)
It may be a good game if you want to fuck around, but I prefer a game with an immense storyline that you can play over and over again. I also disliked GTA Online.

Re: GTA Five
ehhh the music is miniscule arguement both games had good music i dont think that is much of an issue.
when a lot of people say gta 4 is not as good as san andreas is because they dont feel attached to multiple other things like the campaign mode or just random sandboxing which is true. where can u fly a jet in GTA 4 or recruit gang memebers and drive by opposing gangs, win turf, do cluckin bell marathon races, go to the gym, gamble to the extent of las venturas, fly jetpack, get your liscence etc etc, u just do not get these things and many more that keep people playing the game.
i say again, if SA was released at the same time as GTA 4 with the relatively good graphics of GTA 4 and access to the same online modes, GTA4 would be as popular as saints row.
i do not agree that the characters were bland. they were more enterprising to me than gta4 by far not to mention there were many more in quantity. gta4 had me bored half way through and if it wasnt for the expansion packs i wouldnt even have played the game after i finished it.
the journey in san andreas is so much better. getting your gang back, getting betrayed, making new allies, killing the enemies, finally killing the biggest antagonist in ten penny and his bitch friend and then you got all that cia bullshit and the casino problems that just kept going. it was truly epic

i remember finishing gta 4 in about 3 days, maybe 4. it was mostly over one weekend
san andreas with no cheats took me about half a year with help from other siblings and cousins this to me is what i call epic

The characters were bland and not rememerable. CJ was a pussy compared to Niko and that is one of the reasons why I prefer Niko to CJ.
If you like Sandbox games, then I would say that GTA SA may be slightly better. I however also like sandbox games, but they have to have a great storyline too. Niko's story was great. Coming to Liberty City as a troubled war veteran, finds out Roman was lying, helps him out, forced to work for the Russian Mafia, his 'friend' Dimitri (arguably one of the most evil characters out of any game I have played) betrays him. Roman gets forced out of Hove Beach etc. Like I say, CJ, Ryder, Toreno, that Mexican guy, all those were boring compared to characters like Niko, Roman (albeit annoying), Pegorino, Dimitri, Ray who all have a major impact on the story and are more rememerable characters.

Re: GTA Five
none of those characters were as annoying or got me angry as tenpenny of toreno. the missions i had to do for these guys was relentless and especially toreno i almost gave up because they were ridiculous. nikos character to me got very boring by the end of the story. probably my peak of interest in gta4 was when u get betrayed by dimitri but i found the rest of the story boring and for me it was just a matter of finishing each mission to complete the game, rather than engaging myself in the actual story. side characters of the calibre of loc, they didnt exist in gta4....in san andreas they were so funny, how can u say loc was bland?
also how can i forget, you can rob houses in san andreas, and tune your cars. never is this possible in gta4. your opinion on the campaign i can accept even though i completely disagree but only being "slightly" better as a sandboxer...get out of here my friend....no way!

I can. Blowing things up was tremendously fun. Cop chases were fun and police missions were fun. Then you can take cars backk to Steven, engage in meeting random characters taht you may have saw in previous missions, kill birds etc.
The characters in SA were not funny. Infact, watching the cutscenes on Youtube made me bored as the characters had no personality, they were forgettable.

Re: GTA Five
you wouldnt be saying the same thing if it had the same graphics as gta 4, the base models are to similar but the voice overs are pure brilliance and most of the the gta fan population would agree. if characters like little "token black guy" jacob and brucie(some of the most boring missions ever in the gta series) are the standard of which you are holding gta 4 up to against its superior predecessor then you are incorrect and almost anyone would agree with me

Brucie and Jacob barely had any impact on the story though. Ryder, CJ etc did.
Also, I am one of the people who look past graphics when playing a game. Fifa 07 had shit graphics for it's time, but it is one of the most fun games I have ever played.

Re: GTA Five
but ryder was killed off midway through the story.
SA was a much bigger context. u didnt see the final villians much, infact it was just periodically for a lot of the time and u did a lot of work and mission for other people
once u get betrayed by dimitri, the only other major person standing in your way is pegorino
in SA if u have like u already said, ryder, tenpenny and pulaski, big smoke and then cunts like toreno who slow you down. gta4 had after the betrayal, dimitri has the number 1 person you were after. all the lead up missions to me didnt even mean anything. i already knew who the figurehead was
in SA it was long as hell and you pick off the bad guys one by one till you got to smoke this is what i like

What exactly did he do though that made a major impact? He found Pegorino/Dimitri and that was his main involvement.

Same as in GTA IV. You find out of Dimitri's betrayal, but then you get people like Playboy, who tries to forc you into killing arguably the second best character in the game, Ray who is a cunt to Niko, Pegorino who betrays Niko, plus the many Russian Mafia men and Albanians that want you dead. Meeting Darko at the end was also a terrific moment in the game.

kent, macca and even ken rosenborg..come on man these are some awesome colorful characters. how can u not get some sort of reaction out of macca when he used to wank in public areas all the time or how paranoid ken was(yes he is originates from VC but its all relevant)
probably the only guy i didnt really like was wu zi
@ jord, jacob was basically gta 4 version of cesar

The Truth is just a senile old man and is just there for the humour. Catalina is only with you for 4 missions.
I felt angered at Dimitri, he pretends to be your friend, then when he kills Faustin (who I also disliked) he makes Niko's life a living hell. I also hated Bulgarin, although he wasn'tt featured that much in GTA IV, he was still a man I had a lot of pleasure in killiing.

Brucie is a funny character, but I found it strange how he was so over the top in GTA IV and in TBOGT, he was shoved to the side and rarely spoke.
Brucie had one of the most memorable missions in the game (The Lyle Rivas one), but I do agree that his other mission are not as fun as some of the other missions.

GTA4 is the most over-rated gta of them all. If it didn't have 'GTA' on it and was just called Niko comes to America or someshit it won't be bummed as hard as it was. It was a decent game but nothing compared to san andreas.
I played gta san andreas for years on the pc. Getting mods etc. Must have played it for over 1000 hours tbh. Once you complete gta4 there's not much to do and everything gets boring.

Probably the same for me on GTA IV. You don't search around obviously, there is a lot to do.
