Man United
Star striker Wayne Rooney is set to be restored to United's starting XI having featured off the bench against Liverpool. England international Rio Ferdinand, who was also rested for their away game at Benfica last month, has been omitted from United's squad for their trip to Romania. Nemanja Vidic returns to the backline after Ferguson decided not the risk the Serbian in last weekend's draw with Liverpool following his recent recovery from a calf injury. Bulgarian hit-man Dimitar Berbatov, who also missed the Anfield contest, is included in the squad while Phil Jones has recovered from a knock he picked up in Saturday's 1-1 draw. Midfielder Tom Cleverley (foot) and Brazilian defender Rafael (shoulder) remain on the sidelines, although they are nearing a return to full fitness.
Galati
The home side have not been in the best of form this season, as they are currently in a mid-table position in their local standings. The Romanian champions have only two wins from seven home games this season, and have lost five of their last nine competitive fixtures. Manager Dorinel Munteanu is boosted ahead of the game by the news that Cornel Rapa and Gabriel Paraschiv returned from injury on Friday.
