Driving Lessons
If you can drive, how many did you have and how long did it take you?

Re: Driving Lessons
My dad taught me how to drive. I didn't take any formal driving classes. I got my permit at 16 and my license at 17.

Re: Driving Lessons
Took me ages, loads of lessons and 3 tests. I made it hard for myself by not paying attention enough though.

Re: Driving Lessons
I've got my 6th lesson tomorrow afternoon.
My first lesson was awful, felt like i was operating a tank but you get used to it after a few.

Re: Driving Lessons
Passed my test in February.
I had about 4 lessons when I was 17 nearly 18, but then I got a girlfriend and basically stopped having lessons and spent all my time with her. We broke up about a year later, just before I started University and I then spent the next 2 years at the University, not bothering with driving lessons or anything.
After those first 2 years of Uni, I decided to take a year out 'cause I got bored of Uni. A gap year, if you will. During that time I had around 20 lessons and then passed my test first time.
Going back to Uni this October, and I bet it'll feel so much better being able to drive there.
Having a car is a money sucking hoover btw. Be warned.

Re: Driving Lessons
Took me about 22 lessons but 4 tests. I failed 3 in one month and then my instructor got a new job so I had to find a new one, then I didn't get chance to do another test for a few months but I passed it when I did.

Re: Driving Lessons
I was talking to a driving instructor because I turn 17 this weekend and asked this question and he said in his experience on average 20-25 hours is the average amount of time someone who passes has had. The amount of lessons will obviously vary on how long you have per lesson.

Re: Driving Lessons
got mine at 17/18, didn't start driving regularly till about 19
TBH I was too immature to be driving at around 15/16 when I started learning, I didn't pay attention & barely knew the rules.
