Anyway, Rio's out for the Benfica game. I'd like a defence something like
    Fabio-Smalling-Jones-Evra/ Smalling-Jones-Evans-Evra.

2nd one for me, looked good against Spurs.

Your argument was Rafa was a poor manager in Europe based on one season. Completely over looking the fact that he took us to two finals and beat some high profile teams along the way. Hardly call picking my argument apart.

And who cries to the mods? Banter should be welcome to a certain extent in any thread on here. It's an internet forum not a school playground.
No it wasn't, that was just me having a dig at you being out of the Champions League, like you coming in having a dig, Rafa was good tactically in Europe.

But then you claimed he'd have got us a win v Barca because he done it v a much weaker team and since then we've beaten them in a Champions League semi final so what you said was irrelevant.

So, how many points will we finish ahead of the scouse rats this season? I reckon it'll be at least 15, we should be aiming for over 20 though.

Against a side not much stronger than the one we beat. Rafa managed to achieve that with a much weaker squad than yours as well.

Exactly, but you came across as if you were saying Rafa could do it, when we done what Rafa has done, therefore you have no reason to believe Rafa could have won with us now, against this Barca side, or were you just having a dig then?

It's one of the reasons why Real Madrid can still attract high profile players.
Im not talking about trophy count im talking about present day. You haven't matched United in 20 years you should be ashamed as a club.

The idea about Benitez being this tactical God is laughable though.

He got his tactics disastrously wrong in 2005's Champions League Final, in Liverpool's various ties against Chelsea, the only one they got an outright win in was 2005, and that was through an imaginary goal, 2007 they scraped through on penalties, 2008 and 2009 they got battered and only got back into the ties through abandoning tactics and going crazy attacking, much the same as in 2005's Final. Against Arsenal in 2008 they needed a dive to draw a foul from poor Eboue. Their tie against Real Madrid in 2009 was a farce as well, the ref basically gave them a 2 goal head start in the second leg. The 2006 win against Barcelona they scraped through on away goals.

Liverpool's successes under Benitez owe as much to good fortune as good tactics, his reign of terror at Inter showed that. His tactical genius was pretty simple, attack against crap teams, against teams who are better than you, keep it extremely tight, and hope for a mistake or a red card. It's the same tactics that sides like Wolves use in the League, but no-one hails Mick McCarthy's tactical genius even though they get decent results against big sides. I don't know where Benitez's tactical superpowers went in the League either, or the Europa League.

Anything under 12 points will be considered a failure in Uniteds stand point. But I would say 23.

Reina, Agger, Torres, Alonso, Masch. All players turned world class by Rafa. Also if he had the funds that ferguson has had over his career i'm sure he would have built a quite impressive squad.

I'm the first to admit we've underachieved in Europe, and Fergie has to be blamed, he hasn't showed enough game plan in important games, but I seriously think beating Barcelona with our side was too much, especially that midfield.

It's not impossible you blithering mong, do you even understand what that word means? The format of a European Final is exactly the same as an ordinary Cup Final, and they lost an ordinary Cup Final just a few months ago.

He built the only team that has taken the La Liga title off Real Madrid and Barcelona in recent years, with European success as well, playing some quite sensational football.
