    Also San Marino have the record for fastest goal scored in an international match, well they did when I read their wikipedia about this time last year after their last embarassing loss in the qualifiers

    Wasn't it scored against England?

    My memory isnt the best but probably lol

    I think it was, but England then went on and romped to victory.

    They did well to hold out Sweden for 64 minutes today.

    I guess fitness played a important role in conceding 5 goals in the last 30 mins (Inc injury time).

    Another thrashing for them. Credit to them though for holding out for a while.

    Not really a thrashing for them considering these results;

    Netherlands 11-0 San Marino (2011)
    Poland 10-0 San Marino (2009)
    San Marino 0-13 Germany (2006)
    Belgium 10-1 San Marino (2001)
    Norway 10-0 San Marino (1992)

    They need to sack the manger imo, looking at those results, the last 3 in paticular have all been recent.

    He is actually a PE teacher, the current manager.

    I did double check things here and Pip is actually correct here. Laughing

    Although he is a smart man that before getting into management he played for San Marino Calcio which is a team from San Marino that is in the Italian football system. They are in what used to be called Serie C (3rd level) so they cannot be that horrid.

    This is why some suggest a qualifying round for the World Cup like how the UEFA Champions League works. San Marino could at least improve somewhat if they had a group with Andorra, Malta, Faroe Islands, etc. They have only won one game ever beating Liechtenstein 1-0 in a friendly match in 2004. After this win San Marino have yet to manage even one draw. It has been a very bad last six years or so and I believe it has been about two years since they have even scored a single goal.
