This should be interesting game for me to follow, one side of my family came from Ireland and the other side came from Slovakia so I don't think I can take really take a side. Although I really hope it is a good game.

Starting lineup:
Shane Long misses out after picking up a light calf strain and Kevin Kilbane's record of 66 consecutive competitive internationals that goes back to November 1999 is over as he has failed to recover from a back injury.

This game is crucial and if we win it sets us up nicely for our match against Russia where a draw would do. I think we'll win 3-1.

Too negative all night, midfield to deep, strikers had no support.

Pretty much just cost them the game with that, what an absolute fucking sitter that was.

It looked like he pulled out of it, then just put Dunne off

He looked so scared on the ball at the end, shat himself at every point.

Trapattoni is an excellent manager and he has done an excellent job with ROI, but it's once again been proven that he can be a bit too negative at times.

Definately, its almost like hes telling the midfielders not to cross the halfway line, the gap between them and Doyle + Keane was far too big all night.

When Ireland are able to go out and get a draw against a big team, or scrape a win in any of their games, his style works perfectly and cannot be questioned at all. It's on nights like tonight though where those defensive tactics don't work and turn into frustration.

I think that's his system is almost being found out in a sense now. In the last qualifiyng campaign, he was the new manager, so people didn't know what to expect when they came up against Ireland.

Now however, teams seem to be wising up to his defensive ways. A team like Slovenia, who are happy to leave with a point, realise that if they play an equally defensive game and do not attack a lot, then they should leave with that point they want to gain.

A very disappointing night to say the least. Whelan and Andrews were shocking in the centre of midfield, playing it backwards and hoofing it far too often. McGeady was appalling too, can't believe Trap didn't sub him earlier, Hunt should be starting ahead of him. St.Ledger and Duff were the only ones who deserved a bit of credit. The atmosphere was poor by Ireland's standards and the booing at the end won't benefit the team by any means. I don't rate our chances against Russia.
