Pep said Alves could play in a 3 man defence, might be considering 3-4-3 regularly think

To play a 3-4-3 you need to have one extra defensive minded(or atleast someone who can tackle and win the ball) midfielder. Busquets and who? Fabregas? Neutral

Yah but I thought the point of dropping a defender was to put Fabregas in the midfield? Neutral

He will operate as a false nine or behind Messi or Villa. Or simply rotated if they use a 4-3-3.

Plus Barcelona really don't need Busquet's and another defensive minded midfield player.

I assume he means to make up for the lack of a 4th man on the back line.

Real Madrid midfielder Kaka has again insisted he has no desire to leave the Bernabeu Kaka,30, has been linked with a move away from Madrid all summer after failing to make a mark in his first two seasons, but he said in quotes reported by AS: ''I want to stay at Madrid, I've always said that. I've always kept the same opinion on this matter, I've never changed.''It's a lie that my father is talking with other teams. I'm focused on Madrid and I want to continue here.'' He added: ''I'm calm. The coach (Jose Mourinho) told me that he counted on me for this season and this gives me great peace of mind. Now I'm only thinking about helping the team.''

    Not sure if posted.

Saprissa's teenage striker John Jairo Ruiz is the latest young Costa Rican to attract interest from Europe as his agent claims Barcelona have made an offer for him. Ruiz,17, starred at the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia and now looks set to join Arsenal's Joel Campbell in moving to the continent following his performances in the tournament."Barcelona have tabled a good offer for John. It's now up to Saprissa to decide whether it's good enough for them," agent Ricardo Cabanas was quoted as saying by La Nacion. "We were obviously very happy when we heard about this. Joining Barcelona is a dream for any player, so we are very excited. It is important that John gets good advice on this matter."

I liked how that 3-4-3 worked today. The fact that the midfield had so many creative players really killed Villareal. It was pretty cool seeing Messi and Cesc interchanging between that false 9 and attacking midfielder role.

    Thiago = Iniesta's replacement
Jonathan Dos Santos = Xavi's replacement.

Would be shocked if Dos Santos makes it long term at Barcelona, as harsh as that sounds.

Really like those signings for Valencia, a big improvement. Now Maduro will probably leave.

I really do think they will keep him man, it would be a huge shame if he left, but I have a feeling he will get promoted next season. I'd rather see him in the midfield too, its a shame Mexico hasn't called him up. He could really make that midfield tick.

Just can't see it. He's already 22 and still hasn't been promoted - Busquets and Pedro were pretty old getting promoted but I can see players like Rafinha and Sergi Roberto amongst others overtaking Dos Santos.

He didn't stay there too long which kinda had me confused. Guess it didn't suit him.

I personally can't wait to see Cuenca break through the first team. And you may be right about Jonah, and that's not even including Rafa.

I'm not sure if this would work.

    D.Alves - Xavi - Fabregas - Iniesta
    Sanchez - Messi - Villa
