According to the to the so called reality that RR lives in, Michael Owen was Liverpool greatest player because he won the Ballon d'or. So was he Liverpool greatest player? And in RR,s world that also would mean that Michael Owen, was a better player than Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes and the likes.

He's certainly better than Dalglish, that's why Gerrard called him Liverpool's greatest ever striker.

Well Dennis Law said Dalglish was twice the player Keegan was, and Keegan won the Ballon d'or twice. And Geroge Best said Dalglish was on a par with the great Alfredo Di Stéfano.

clearly a wind up but no far from it, Owen was brilliant but he's not even in or top 20 greatest ever players.

Keegan only won the Ballon d'Or after he played for Liverpool, Law was obviously talking about Dalglish and Keegan's comparative performances for Liverpool. George Best was a chronic alcoholic, I'd be surprised if he could remember Di Stefano by the time Dalglish came along.

Law was taking about how good Dalglish was and how good Keegan was, and when Keegan won the Ballon d'or twice, Dalglish was helping Liverpool to win the European cup and another League title and Keegan and his Hamburg team got beat 7 goals to 1 on Aggregate in the European Super cup in the 77,78 season.

The only reason Owen was so prolific is because he had the unselfish Emile Heskey using his physical presence and superior footballing intelligence to create so much space and so many goal scoring chances for Owen.
It is no surprise that, in the 4 full seasons Heskey played for Liverpool, the season he played the least in (03/04) was also the season in which Michael Owen scored the least goals since his strike partner had signed for the club (19). It also comes of no surprise to me that Michael Owen failed to better his record total of goals for a single season (28), when he eventually moved away from Liverpool and no longer had Emile Heskey alongside him.
Heskey > Owen. I rest my case.

George Best was a heavy drinker and beat women, wouldn't entirely trust his opinion on other playas
