most people who would of watch that game in england would be those guys on welfare benefit watching it in pub with no teeth, they see him score and when they hear commentator say these things they think "jolly gosh you know what, i think hes right, defoe world class mate wa a finish"

Yeah, I only watched the first half, but all I heard him say about Defoe was he's the most clinical (lethal in front of goal or something along that line) in front of goal Capello has to pick from.

He's probably right in saying that as well.

He's not lethal in front of goal. He just shoots far too much.

Defoe is a good finisher, but Clive very much took is comment well overboard.

Defoe couldn't finish a shit let alone a goal last season, and I believe you have to be consistant to be considered the best.

I watched it and only heard him say he's the most lethal finisher the England squad have.

Defoe is clinical when he has the ball.

When it's being fed to him he's pretty average.

I'm a fan of Defoe, not the one of the best clinical finishers in Europe but one of the best in the Prem and certainly should be playing more for England.

I know what you mean but I'm still frustrated with him from last season, I mean if he bangs in the goals like he did the season before I won't care again, but you also shouldn't also be calling him the best if he can't be consistant.

Undoubtedly a good striker when on form, but he relies on his pace a lot more than his actual finishing. Typical English commentator: showing complete ignorance to all of the major foreign leagues.

He started this season with a goal last night, and hopefully will continue that.
