Yeah, I only watched the first half, but all I heard him say about Defoe was he's the most clinical (lethal in front of goal or something along that line) in front of goal Capello has to pick from.

He's probably right in saying that as well. Neutral

He's not lethal in front of goal. He just shoots far too much.

Defoe couldn't finish a shit let alone a goal last season, and I believe you have to be consistant to be considered the best.

Defoe is clinical when he has the ball.

When it's being fed to him he's pretty average.

    and penalties.......facepalm

He had an off year, as did the rest of our strikers. Didn't help with his injury either. Before last year he scored plenty and he will do again this season, mark my words! I'm a fan of Defoe, not the one of the best clinical finishers in Europe but one of the best in the Prem and certainly should be playing more for England.

Defoe = hits the ball as hard as he can.

Clinical? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. He shanks most of his shots into the stand.

I know what you mean but I'm still frustrated with him from last season, I mean if he bangs in the goals like he did the season before I won't care again, but you also shouldn't also be calling him the best if he can't be consistant. shifty

Undoubtedly a good striker when on form, but he relies on his pace a lot more than his actual finishing. Typical English commentator: showing complete ignorance to all of the major foreign leagues.

I would happily take Bent over Defoe any day. Bent is already a more clinical finisher, but has consistency in his game as well.
