Rio Ferdinand- Underrated?
Despite injury problems, hes still one of the most consistant defenders around, yet people seem to criticise him alot.

Re: Rio Ferdinand- Underrated?
I wouldn't say he's underrated, but he can often be overshadowed by Vidic. Don't get me wrong, I rate Vidic ahead of Ferdinand, but Ferdinand is an excellent defender and I'd put him a lot closer to Vidic than many would.
Ferdinand is certainly the best defender that England have.

Probably still one of the most consistent and composed defenders in the world. I don't know anyone who underrates him.

Who criticises him for performances?
I see a lot calling him a cunt but I don't see anyone saying he's a bad player.

Re: Rio Ferdinand- Underrated?
I think hes criticised alot by being beside Vidic, people dont see Rio throwing his head where it hurts, but rarely do you see him make clumbsy errors as such.

Re: Rio Ferdinand- Underrated?
Don't see how he's underrated. He's had his injuries in the past few years, but most players pick up them as they get older, and it's common that you can pick up a few niggles after a big injury (United fans know all about that, Neville and Hargreaves.. ). But since he joined in 2002, he's been so consistently brilliant for us. I still remember him and Campbell in the 2002 World Cup- they were fantastic.

He's been regarded as one of the best centrebacks in the world for a while now.

Underrated
So underrated that he was given the captains arm band for England? when there was clearly players around him that could play 2 games without having a back spasm.

Hard to say, can't really tell if he's consistent when he doesn't play often enough.
He's consistently injured, I'll give him that.

Re: Rio Ferdinand- Underrated?
He is under-rated when people say he is worse than Vidic, he's a much better player than Vidic.
The main reason that was such a huge error was that Gerrard was vice captain, a man whose captaincy of club and country has been characterised by a long string of failures.

Shouldn't have taken it from him in the first place.

Re: Rio Ferdinand- Underrated?
I cant believe people are saying hes overrated, he doesnt get half as much a credit as Vidic, when in reality he makes alot less mistakes, and is less wreckless imo.

Being given the captaincy doesn't mean that you're overrated or underrated. It simply means what it means: you've been given the captaincy.Scouser_Dave wrote:Underrated

His injuries have nothing to do with his ability, considering he played superbly for years before his injury problems developed. I could easily start going on about some of Gerrard's recent injuries.

Didn't he belt a Chelsea steward when he got the face on?

Ask him, dont see what that has to do with his football on the pitch.

Still counts as reckless behaviour. Doesn't mean he can switch it on and off as soon as he steps on the pitch.
Besides, he belted a ball at a fan's face too. That was on the pitch. Temper temper
