It's confusing the entire thing but you're sort of right. DiZ was Ansem the Wise. Ansem is Xehanorts(Ansem the Wise' apprentice) heartless and Xemnas was Xehanorts Nobody.

It's pretty good, continues the story well. The first is better though. Although I never finished the first I finished the second. I couldn't get past Chernabog on the first.
