from last 12 months, england have used 7 different goalkeepers in squad callups, 5 of them are currently championship players albeit foster can probably play in epl but carson is more suited to championship

I hate the "it's only a friendly" saying. How the flying fuck are you going to know if a team will play well together if they never play a competitive match. The result might not be very important in a friendly but everything else is.
If your team plays shit in a friendly you have time to try and fix what's wrong with the team before the result actually matters.
