I'm more impressed by the defenders clearance right at the start

Liverpool nearly signed one of the Laudrup brothers (I forgot which one). We verbally agreed personal terms with him but it never materialized, once again I've forgotten why
EDIT: "Yes, in 1983 I had the opportunity to sign for Liverpool. We actually agreed a deal and I came over with my father to talk to Liverpool's representatives. We agreed a three-year contract and went away thinking it was all done. But two weeks later they came back saying they wanted to offer me the same package, but for four years because I was still young and needed time to develop. I was disappointed because although nothing had been signed, we had an agreement. I decided not to join them and people thought I was crazy. This 19-year-old was turning down the great Liverpool. It wasn't really like that though. I just felt an agreement is an agreement and people should stick to what they decide. After that, I had other offers and went on to join Juventus. That's football for you."

Re: Skills thread
He was something special back then, especially from 87 to 91 when he played on the Wing and that piece of skill you are talking about was on Grandnational day 1989 we beat Sheffield Wednesday 5-1. But there was loads of times he come out with great skill and its sad he never got the chance at that time to play in Europe for Liverpool back then. On his day back then he was as good as any player at club on the planet, he was one Liverpool player like Dalglish and a few others i would call real World Class.Jay wrote:Liverpool fc 4 ever wrote:

I've watched tons of videos of Liverpool around that time that my dad has collected, we must have been a joy to watch.
I can't imagine how good we would have been if we had managed to sign Laudrup.
McMahon, Houghton, Beardsley, Barnes, Laudrup, Aldo...would have been something really special.

Yes it was a joy to watch them back then, and ive still got loads of video's i bought back then and also a lot of Live games which i got taped for me. Yes Laudrup would have another great player to have seen at Anfield back then he was also something special, Although he would have probably had to play instead of Beardsley as back then they never really rotated the team and Peter Beardsley never let us down, he was a very important part of they teams from 87,88 to 90,91. But Laudrup would have also been something to see playing for Liverpool that i totally agree with.
Dalglish Goals v Belgium on this the 2nd one at 24.38 on this one of his Best Scotland Goals. And i love his goal v Manchester City (19.12 on this) His 300th Goal in Club football, Left foot Right foot it did not matter to the King.
