Depends on who wins the CC and gets to the FA cup final. Up to 7th can qualify.BladeGunner wrote:Van Wolfswinkel wrote:

I think Newcastle still have a decent chance, even if two of Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham make it to the FA Cup final. Chelsea still have to go to the Etihad and the Emirates and they're already doing poorly enough as it is against supposedly poorer opposition. Even with us and Tottenham, you never know. All the teams in that region have been extremely inconsistent this season and you wouldn't put it beyond any of them to capitulate completely.

Europa isn't all the it's cut out to be, the money isn't that significant and the trips for away games are stupidly long.
I'm loving the Newcastle squad at the moment, filled with real talent and guile, you just need Taylor back and you have yourself a side able to challenge for the CL next year if you do well in the transfer window.
Hopefully you take Tottenham out the CL spots too next year

Yep. The FA Cup winner gets one, if they are in Europe it goes to the runner-up, if they are in Europe it goes to 6th I think. The runners up for the Carling Cup don't get in at all though, if the winners are in Europe an extra one is added to the league. At least that what I was told a while ago.

We won't sustain our league position, and therefore will not attain European football.

Its actually quite refreshing to see people think we can get into Europe, instead of thinking we are just lucky bastards.

Andy Carroll had a better scoring record in his last season with Newcastle than Demba Ba this season.

Re: Official Newcastle United Thread
I don't think you're lucky bastards by any means, but I think there are some things which desperately need to change for you to make the transition from a team with good players to a good team. I've always maintained that Pardew is completely incompetent. The same ridiculous mistakes he made with West Ham regarding Tevez and Mascherano, he's doing them again with Ben Arfa. Also, he's so tactically inept. If a quality manager is brought in in the near future then there's no doubt in my mind that you can consistently qualify for the Europa League, if not more.

We are aimless, abject without a style and resort to hoof-ball on far to regular a basis.
We are static in possession, no one knows what they are meant to be doing.
His persistence in starting Ryan Taylor ahead of Ben Arfa is embarrassing, and he has mis-handled those that have been fortuitous enough to start under his stupidity i.e. Cabaye
As i have said on previous pages, i would have sacked him long ago.

Ba is an absolute beast, I remember when he was at Hoffe a few seasons ago I wanted Wenger to sign him so bad then he went to West Ham

You don't see us. The performances for the majority of the season have been diabolical.

And he's found some bargains aswell
Its getting rather embarrassing now with the performances. Getting outplayed at home by Norwich and Wolves. Not good enough.

Yep, but we got completely outplayed most of the game. While the result is all that matters at the end, we have been shit for the most part of the season and its quite annoying.

You were in the Championship two seasons ago and now you're talking about sacking the coach when you have a realistic chance of qualifying for Europe, perspective guys

In my opinion we are only where we are do to the inconsistency of everyone else and the fact that Graham Carr is a babe <3

People were saying the same things when Chris Hughton got sacked and look how that worked out. This Newcastle team has potential to be a lot better than it currently is.

I would take Martinez, although Big Lad doesn't seem to like him that much
I'm sure AVB will want to join
