    Golden age? doubt it.

    Famine
    Depression
    Wars in the middle east.
    Revolution in the middle east.

I don't claim to know alot about politics and history but if historians do there job right, then they won't call our time a golden age.

I just finished GCSE History like 2 months ago. My favourite part had to be American West, really interesting.

My all time favourite 'era' of History has to be the Roman Empire time, or the Roman period, love all that shit.

Climate Change, or paleoclimatology is the study of historical changes in climate.

Geography is the study of LAND. Thus GEO

CLIMATE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GEOGRAPHY. CLIMATOLOGY OR METEOROLOGY IS A SEPARATE BRANCH OF SCIENCE ALTOGETHER.

And I thought the education systems in England were better than here in America.... scratch

Geography is the study of PHYSICAL Geography and HUMAN Geography.

Climate Change is heavily impacted on Human Influences, thus HUMAN Geography.

It can be classed as history when looking at it in the form of data collected over a period of time showing the changes in the climate, but when you look at what the actual changes are happening for, then it's all to do with Geography. All the pollution side of climate change is linked with Human Geography and human developments. Air transport is linked with human geography and the topic of interconnected worlds.

Also, impacts of climate change resulting in more natural hazards, which falls into the category of PHYSICAL Geography. Do you really think droughts, flooding, hurricanes etc are things which should be taught in history? Because they are all to do with the subject of climate change..
You are separating the social studies into human history and human geography when they can't be separated.

Bold: That is paleoclimatology, not history.
Underlined: Social Science, or Human Geography
Italics: It's caused by events that could be covered in Human Geography but it is not geography. It is Meteorology.

BTW Air Transport has nothing to do with geography. If you are referring to the effects it has on human communications, that is a completely different branch of Social Science.

You were using Geography as a broad term before and I did not agree with it. Changing from Geography to the much more specific Human Geography which encompasses several other studies mid-way argument is improper.

So far the only interesting bit in this thread is regarding Attila the Hun. Good man, but I'm losing track of history. So he first died, then the remnants of his massive army was defeated in Orleans by the Franks and the Holy Roman Empire? I don't check wiki for this shit, not my thing.

Find any golden age, in any civilization and you'll find conflict, depression, famine, corruption etc. A Golden Age is much more of a macro thing.

If this is the height of civilization before it's collapse due to us fucking up the environment than future generations will look up to this age as the golden age of Human civilization.

Athens was a cultural centre, home of artists, scientists and philoshophers while sparta didnt have a culture at all. They were warriors. In a war that lasted 27 years though(the peloponnisian war),431-404 BC,sparta won.Neutral

Yeah, I know that. Partly because the Persians aided the Spartans. They did band up together though, during the Persian invasion attempt. That was before the Peloponnisian wars I think.

Well during the persian wars (500-479 BC),all greek city-states decided to form an alliance in order to prevent the persian attack.

When sparta won athens in the peloponnisian war, they(corinthians) wanted athens to be completely destroyed, and its citizens sold as slaves.Luckily, the spartans didnt do that.
