Doesn't matter to me if he's classed as 'world class' or not, I'd still not change him for any other striker in the world. (yes I'm serious.)

Messi ? Ronaldo ? Tevez? As much as I love RVP I would swap him day long for another striker such as Ibra etc. He may be class but he's injury prone which does not help our long quest of trying to win a trophy/

Re: List of forwards better than Van Persie
You sir are a legend By far the most accurate post of players better than RVP.Potato-7 wrote:Messi-better
Villa-better
Pedro-a league below van persie
Ronaldo-better
Benzema- Far worse
Higuain-Debatable,but RVP performs more in big games so RVP
Rossi-Hasnt proved himself in a big team and his goalscoring record is worse to RVP's
Forlan-Bad form this year so No.
Aguero-Hasnt proved himself in a big team yet.
Tevez-He is slighly worse
Torres-On bad form now. When he retains his form he will be better though
Drogba-better
Rooney-slightly better
Suarez-He is good but he hasnt been that good for Liverpool.
Eto'o-Better
Milito-Bad form this year and old.IMO he is not better.
Cavani-Did you know him last season? One good season doesnt mean world class.
Robinho-Are you serious?
Ibrahimovic-Ibra is good but tends to disappear in Europe.Debatable.
Cassano-Hell no.
Falcao-He has to prove himself in a bigger league
Hulk-same with falcao
Chamakh-.....
So IMO the players better than him are:
Messi
Villa
Ronaldo
Drogba
Rooney
Eto'o
(Torres)
(Tevez)
(Ibrahimovic)

Fair enough, I don't think he could be accused of helping Barcelona though, Koscielny got away with murder and none of the Barca players went as far as committing violent conduct in my view.Ricardo wrote:Fair enough, I'm not in the camp that use ruining a game as a significant point either way though, I actually believe his dismissal was an equitable verdict and just wanted to see some consistency.
He didn't get a red card for it, he got a yellow.Mustangt125 wrote:Ricardo wrote:Fair enough, I'm not in the camp that use ruining a game as a significant point either way though, I actually believe his dismissal was an equitable verdict and just wanted to see some consistency.
Are you talking about his soft red for kicking the ball after the whistle?
Surely the worst red card ever. Nobody can agree with that awful call.

Re: List of forwards better than Van Persie
How is Villa not consistent? Cause he had one bad spell at the end of last season? He's scored 20+ for the last 10 seasons, easily one of the most consistent strikers in the world.SBSP wrote:Villa is not that consistent. Pedro and Higuain doesn't have as much to their game. Benzema, Aguero, Cavani, Falcao just had breakout seasons. Forlan and Milito are past it. Rossi and Suarez just aren't as good. Robinho and Cassano have never been world class. Chamakh is kept out of the team by RVP. Torres has been off form. Messi, Ronaldo, Drogba, and Rooney are better. Tevez, Eto'o and Ibra are debatable. I haven't seen much of Hulk.
There you go.
Also, Falcao, Benzema and Aguero haven't just had breakout seasons. Benzema scored around 25 goals this season and in his last 2 seasons with Lyon he scored over 20 in both. Falcao was brilliant last season and got over 30 goals so this season is hardly his breakthrough season. Aguero has scored 20+ goals in each of the past 4 seasons and got around 10 assists in each, again not a breakthrough season. I'd agree with it being Cavani's breakthrough season last season though.

Re: List of forwards better than Van Persie
In my humble opinion, Arsenal would have won the league if they had a striker who scored more than 20 goals a season (leauge). Van persie doesn't score that many, and probably never will.
Van Persie's technical ability is second to only a handful of players, his importance and ability to use his technical ability to win matches however is a different case entirely. In that regard there are a dozen or so players who are better than Van Persie, and in all honesty he can be as technically gifted as he wants, but it matters little if he can't use it to win his club or nation points/trophies. He's great at what he's supposed to do, but without that lethal striker in front of him there's just something missing...

30 combined goals and assists in multiple seasons, in a league which is either the best or second best, isn't a breakthrough?

Fair enough, but how do you rate him? I'd say he's in the top 5 forwards in PL history easily, but that's probably about it. Wouldn't say he's one of the best players of all time.

Higuain is debatable.. and Benzema, although he isn't far worse, hasn't been the better one out of the two lately.

How is Kun better then Tevez? Kun can't even get on for Argentina and Tevez was the top scorer in the EPL last season.

You do know Tevéz just got dropped from Argentina for Kun who is the top scorer in Copa América so far right?

Tevez has been shit for argentina and everyone with a brain cell has been calling out for aguero to start, he did in the last match and argentina bossed, id say aguero is easily better than the ugly cunt, he has a phenomenal record in a team he and forlan have carried for years and carried them single handedly last season, 20+ goals a season consistamtly at pathetico is incredible

Strongly disagree. Kun is the more talented player, can you name 1 thing Tevéz has over Kun other than his work rate? Which isn't exactly a weak point to Agüero.
Kun is faster, a better dribbler, a better finisher, a better passer, faaaaaar better first touch.
On top of that he's more loyal than Tevéz and won't threaten to retire every 2 and a half weeks.

He's already proven in the Champions League, Copa América and La Liga, what more does he need to show?
