Given the company's goal, why shouldn't they be proud? It was the most widely circulated rag in the world at one point. Their mission obviously wasn't to engage in honest investigative journalism; it was to sell copies. They did that in spades.

Mostly because the way they were shut down weren't exactly something to be proud of? If the investigation comes down to the individual "journalists" they could face jail time, proud of going to jail and having your jobs shut down?

As I want to be a sports Journalist if my football career doesnt go to plan, then I will certainly avoid hacking phones.

That's obviously not what they're saying they are proud of. They are proud of the way they were able to peddle vast quantities of overly dramatic sensationalism on a dimwitted public that slurped it up like kittens.

Im aware that it is the same part of company as the sun but they where different Papers when they wrote all them lies and bullshit about hillsbourgh.

The mistake your making is assuming that the Sun and the News of the World are equally boycotted. Everyone knows about the Sun and the campaign against it, the majority of Liverpool fans know, understand the reasons and boycott the Sun. A lot of Liverpool fans also boycott the News of the World, but it is not at the same level. Many see it more as just one of the most unreliable rags out there.

On a number of Liverpool forums, repeated posting of links to the Sun (not spamming them, just posting them) will result in warnings/bans. Posting of other unreliable sources, including the News of the World, won't.

By the way, all the money made is going to a good cause. Shelter I think.
