CDM is the most overrated and unneccesary position in the sport. It gives people like Gareth Barry a chance to make the English team when there were probably 10 more skillful midfielders around at the time who deserved it more. Didn't see Spain playing CDMs in the WC. Some guys are exceptions like Makelele, Viera, Cambiasso, who were great players and created a completely new midfield position but released the monster that is the CDM as we know it today.
