Might as well make one. eek3

It's 2016, and Southampton FC have managed to return to the big time. From being on -10 points in League 1 in 2009, to consistently challenging for Champions League spots by 2016 under the guidance of manager Jordi Murray. A number of the original squad are still involved in the managers plans, including Jose Fonte, Alex Chamberlain and Adam Lallana.

A solid performance from Saints at the Reebok secured another vital three points in their campaign for the fourth Champions League spot. Alex Chamberlain gave the visitors the lead on the quarter hour mark with a curling shot from the edge of the area. Adam Lallana doubled Southampton's lead on sixty nine minutes with a tap in from close range.

Trotters central midfielder David Edwards scored a consolation three minutes later.

Southampton move up to fourth spot again.

Southampton Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Barcelona's veteran striker David Villa.

The 35 year old has had a long and glorious career, scoring 68 goals in 112 games for Spain, and 289 goals in 480 club appearances.

Villa said: "I'm delighted to be able to work with Jordi, as he is a fantastic manager, and I hope I can continue to score goals here."

The club are also pleased to announce the signing of youngster Conroy Brown from Arsenal, and the appointment of Xavi to the backroom staff.
