He wouldn't have left if you'd stayed up.

He still took us down, players and managers should be made to stay for at least a season if they take teams down. We get relegated and everyone sods off like they didnt have anything to do with it.

If it weren't for wage bills then I'd want the same to happen. They get you in the mess so they must get you out of it.

McLeish: I'm relishing working with "talented and motivated" Villa stars

Alex McLeish admits he's relishing working with Villa's "talented and motivated" stars - and says he's going to throw himself into his exciting new role.

McLeish has arrived as manager in a blaze of publicity after becoming the first boss to move directly across the city from Birmingham to Villa.

But, in spite of the media furore surrounding the move, McLeish insists it's all about the football as the new season draws ever nearer.

He admits he can't wait to get out on the training fields when the players return for pre-season on July 7.

He said: "I'm looking forward to working with the group of talented and motivated players that we have at Villa.

"My first afternoon in the job I was able to spend at the training ground at Bodymoor and the facilities here are really outstanding, first-class.

"I'm eager to throw myself into this and I'm looking forward to pre-season already.

"It's all about the football really.

"When the players walk back through the door on the first day of pre-season training that's what it's all about and I can't wait for that."

McLeish insists he's honoured by his new role as Villa boss and now wants to add his "own chapter" to our illustrious history.

The new manager even admitted he understood the surprise of some fans to his cross-city switch but he said it was up to him to win the supporters over.

He added: "I am honoured to have this opportunity to manage a club with such a fantastic history.

"The heritage, the history of success and the tradition of Aston Villa are compelling and irresistible. The challenge for me is to try to add my own chapter.

"I know that some of our fans have voiced concerns and I can understand why. It will be up to me to convince you that I am the right man to drive the club forward and I intend to give absolutely everything to prove that I can be a success."

The worst thing is that he hasnt even said sorry to the Blues fans, he bummed off us last season 'the fans don't deserve relegation' 'they were unreal at Wembley' 'St Andrews is a hostile place for the away team' etc thats what me and my dad are pissed off about. It's like we never existed now that he is wearing pink and blue.
