There was a reason he was often refereed to as Pascal 'Zidane' Cygan. Now, if you cannot see the abilities of a great player such as Zidane, there is no hope left.

Nicknames given by deluded Arse's like yourself does not mean that he is of better talent than he actually is.

In all fairness, just about every Argentinian attacker in the last 20 years has been referred to as the 'new Diego Maradona'. Player comparisons happen all the time in football.

Cygan was a very good player, although he was certainly no Zinedine Zidane. That is for sure. There will never be another Zinedine Zidane in the history of football as he was a complete, one off player.

I also think of consistent goalscorer, who has the natural ability to take the ball past 3 good defenders at any time with relative ease.

Even if Pascal Cygan is a good player, he is not in the same class as a legend like Zinedine Zidane as Zidane was a much better player and played in a completely different position.

If you were going to compare him to any French player, it would be a legendary French defender like Marcel Desailly, Lillian Thuram or Laurent Blanc, who played in a similar sort of position to him.

Pascal Cygan was a great player arguably the greatest center back to play in the premier league.
His ability to read the game was second to none during his stint with us coupled with his passing ability and perfect timing for tackles and his imposing physical stature made him a solid force during our best season of the premier league era (2003-4) in all of his 18 league appearances that season he was a rock alongside Sol and Toure there is no doubt that in my mind the contribution of Pascal during his time at the club puts him in the upper echelons of the teams history.

Actually, Preston North End have managed to go a whole season unbeaten. A much better feat than the Arsenal side because they didn't actually lose a game.

I know that Preston North End achieved this in a previous century, when football was a much less competitive game than what it is now. For a team to achieve something like that again, they would need a player of Pascal Cygan's quality, unfortunately, there is only one Pascal Cygan, and he retired today.

That Preston side went unbeaten a whole season, Arsenal did not. That is a bigger achievement. Personally, I believe that without Cygan, Arsenal could have matched or even beaten Preston's achievement.
