Did Billy Davies Sabotage Celtic’s Title Hopes?
By Fanzone
Ex-Bluenose Davies Held Wilson Back…
If I were the Chairman of Nottingham Forest I’d be wanting to know why my manager turned down £400,000 for a player I had no intention of using while paying his wages?
Assuming Kelvin was on £8,000 a week, Forest were out of pocket to the tune of around £160-170,000 on wages for the player. Altogether the Championship side are down just over half a million pounds, before they FAIL to get promoted!
I think it’s fair to say Davies rated the defender, as he took him from Preston to Nottingham with him and offered him a new contact, that Wilson duly turned down to sign a pre-contract agreement with Celtic.
There seems to be no logic in Davies keeping the player when he has no intention of playing him, unless he can see the value to Neil Lennon and Celtic and decided that Kelvin would be too good an acquisition for the Hoops in the title run-in.
Thus allowing his bluenose instincts to get the better of him.
Of course we can’t prove that, but I’m sure I wasn’t the only Celtic fan cheering on Swansea a week past when they faced Forest in the Championship play-off.
In the meantime, welcome to Paradise Kelvin.
