My favorite characters are Sheldon and Howard. I also find somewhat of a resemblance to How I Met Your Mother. Howard reminds me of Barney Stinson while Leonard reminds me of Ted Mosby.

OK after 3 full days of watching this show, I have finally caught up to the current episode.

This show just smells more and more like How I Met Your Mother as I watched. Has anyone else noticed it?

-Penny: Her father wanted a son and despite having a daughter, he acted like the child was a male. Penny has been trying to get approval from her father. She dated Leonard and dumped him because he said "I love you". She still has feelings for Leonard. She also sleeps with both Leonard and Raj (well technically didn't sleep with Raj), who resemble the two friends that got the same treatment on HIMYM. Penny is quite similar to Robin on HIMYM.
-Howard: the guy in the group who is always thinking about sex resembles Barney on HIMYM.
-Leonard: Looking for the right woman. His parents get divorced. He resembles Ted on HIMYM.
-Sheldon: He also is somewhat similar to Barney for his humor and social awkwardness.
-Raj: when he talks, he somewhat resembles Barney for the same reasons as Howard.

I'm not so sure about all that. If you look at the main traits of the characters, Sheldon's completely different from Barney, and then there's Howard who was much more creepy than Barney as well. Plus, he's settled down now. And having a "good guy" in a sitcom, like Leonard and Ted, isn't anything new. You could probably compare lots of sitcoms like this, there's always going to be similarities between characters.
