Here is your overdue update on the football going on in Liechtenstein! This is the 14th straight year FC Vaduz has won the cup and the 17th time in a row they were involved in the final. They are currently 2nd in the Swiss Challenge league and still may get promoted to the Swiss Super League the top level of Swiss football.FC Vaduz took a while to get going, but ran out 5-0 winners against USV Eschen/Mauren in the Liechtensteiner Cup final to secure a place in UEFA Europa League qualifying.
FC Vaduz defeated USV Eschen/Mauren 5-0 in Monday's Liechtensteiner Cup final at the Rheinpark Stadium.
Despite dominating from the off, Vaduz took 38 minutes to break the deadlock via a Benjamin Büchel own goal. Mario Sara doubled the lead from a free-kick, perhaps intended as a cross, seven minutes after the restart and the match was effectively ended by Roland Schwegler's third on 64.
Arlan (73) and Diego Ciccone (90) added gloss, to ensure the capital club, who play in the Swiss second division, lifted the trophy for the 41st time in the 66th edition of the competition. Their reward is a place in UEFA Europa League qualifying.

Re: Vaduz lift Liechtensteiner Cup
So a 2nd division club won this trophy for 14 years straight?

Re: Vaduz lift Liechtensteiner Cup
I wonder if Vaduz creates Leichtenstein regens on FM.
Switzerland is a decent league, might try this out some time.

Re: Vaduz lift Liechtensteiner Cup
Well Liechtenstein is not big enough to have its own national league. All the Liechtenstein clubs play in the Swiss football pyramid and FC Vaduz just happens to be the best team in Liechtenstein by miles. If you do not count reserve sides Liechtenstein has only seven football clubs.Rei wrote:So a 2nd division club won this trophy for 14 years straight?

Re: Vaduz lift Liechtensteiner Cup
Congratulations Vaduz, although they aren't my favourite team other than Forest.
That honour goes to Home United FC in the S League (Singapore). 5th in the table, yet they have the highest GD in the league. Astonishing.
