Blink 182 have spoken about their disappointment at not being able to complete their upcoming European tour.
Reuniting in emotional circumstances last year, Blink 182 confirmed details of their first European tour in almost a decade. Taking in some massive shows, the pop-punk trio were due to play to countless fans across the continent.
However with sessions for their new studio album dragging on, Blink 182 were forced to cancel the upcoming shows. Issuing a statement the band said: "When we booked the tour last year, we were confident that we would have the new album out before the Summer. Turns out we were mistaken as the album is taking longer than we thought and won't be out till later this year."
"We hoped we wouldhave some new songs to play rather than do another 'greatest hits tour' which you all saw last Summer. As much as we know our fans would be cool with that, we feel that we owe you guys somethingnew when you spend your money to come see us. Frankly, it's what needs to continue for us to remain vital."
Speaking to Kerrang recently, Blink 182 singer Mark Hoppus admitted that he was "gutted" when the announcement was made. "We are gutted that we are postponing the tour," he said. "It was not a decision we made lightly, but we did it to bring you a much better show with new material."
He added: "We made a promise to ourselves and our fans, after we finished the last tour that we weren't going to tour anymore until the new album came out. We don't want to be one of those bands that rests on former success and keeps playing the same songs over and over, we want to tour new songs."
Blink 182 have re-scheduled their headline shows, however appearances at T In The Park and Oxegen have been cancelled.
Blink 182 will now play the following dates in 2012:
June
7 Birmingham NIA
8 London O2 Arena
12 Dublin O2 Arena
13 Belfast Odyssey Arena
15 Manchester Evening News Arena
16 Birmingham LG Arena
17 Sheffield Motorpoint Arena
19 Newcastle Metro Radio Arena
20 Glasgow SECC
July 10 Cardiff Motorpoint Arena
11 Nottingham Capital FM Arena
12 Liverpool Echo Arena
