HULL City goalkeeper Matt Duke is preparing to run 10km to raise money for a charity after beating testicular cancer.
Matt underwent an operation to remove the tumour, as well as a
course of chemotherapy, after he was diagnosed in January 2008 and now
has check-ups every six months.
Now, he will complete Jane Tomlinson's Hull 10K on May 15 to raise funds for male cancer charity Everyman.
Joining him in the race will be ex-player Neil Mann and Rory The Tiger.
Matt said: "It is important fundraising events continue so more research can be done to hopefully find a cure."
Participants in the Hull 10K can raise money for any cause.
However, those who run for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal will also help partner charities, which are Everyman, Cancer Research UK, Dove House Hospice and the Daisy Appeal.
Matt took part in the event last year and again raised funds for
Everyman. He said: "It was nice because I have done a lot of things for
Everyman, but none of them were ever Hull-based.
"You could see people from Hull running for different reasons.
"I was blown away by the number of people running for something that personally meant something to them."

About 3,500 people have entered Jane Tomlinson's Hull 10K so far and 5,000 places are available.
The route will start and finish in the Queens Gardens area of Hull city centre.
