A minute's silence doesn't hurt your hands.

Silence is better but applause can cover the idiots who wreck the silence.

The silence would be better but applause is more better at drowning the douchesbags who ruin the moment.

I like though how the applause came about, it was supposed to be a minutes slience for George Best at West Ham but the whole ground just broke into sponteanous applause

I do, put the back of your hands together, with your fingers facing towards your bodu.

Minutes applause = Gets annoying..can hurt your hands. That said, you don't have to clap.
Minutes silence = Can't talk
I'm not saying take it away, I think some legends of the club deserve it, and maybe in some other circumstances too.....
Sometimes it feels like there's a minutes silence every week......it starts to lose it's meaning.
Anyway...I'd take the applause because I can give an applause for a little bit and talk as well....
No offence of course, sometimes I try to take it seriously I never talk through silences or anything out of respect, but sometimes it doesn't mean anything to me. At an England game they had it for Alan Ball and I pretty much know nothing about him so it felt weird.

I'd have a minutes silence for tragedies, such as Hillsborough, or another tragedy of that ilk, but a minutes applause for if a club or football legend dies of old age or whatever.
I didn't phrase that very well, but I know what I mean.

I know what you mean, and your point generally seems to be the case nowadays, which is nice to see.ayvee1 wrote:I'd have a minutes silence for tragedies, such as Hillsborough, or another tragedy of that ilk, but a minutes applause for if a club or football legend dies of old age or whatever.

The minutes silence was for Fiszmann aswell you know not all about you lot.The guy in the costume is allowed to pay his respects to Fiszmann as they could have been close given Fiszmanns involvement at the club.

I thought a minutes silence is for a tradegy or when something bad happens, and applause is when someone has died and its to celebrate them and applaud them.

Silence is good but you always have some assholes that decide they want to be disrespectful rather then stay silent for the minute so applause works better off in the end.

Either's good, depending on circumstances, as long as you don't have massive foam dinosaurs or other animals joining in in respectful silences.

A minutes applause personally. You want to remember them well and celebrate their life, I think it's worth applauding. But that's just me. I'd rather clap them than stand there silent.

This. I think that is the best solution for both.
